  • Im new and not sure how to do this

I have done the Atkins diet before and was very successful. I lost 100lbs in 9 months and kept it off for 5 years. I recently had a baby and was doing well, i had just 20 lbs to lose after I had him and BAM I started binging like crazy and lost all control of my eating habits. Im craving everything I am not supposed to have, Im starving all the time and I never feel full. Instead of losing the 20 lbs I have gained another 20 in just 2 months. Im scared and out of control. Every day I say Im going to give up the carbs again and then I have a giant plate of fries, tater tots and nachos for lunch!! I really need a support system badly. And to top it all off, I have a workout room in my home but recently broke one of my toes so badly I can hardly walk, so no treadmill, no eliptical- which is the only equipment I have.

Hi cynrose, I'm so glad you found us! This board is full of great advice and support.

Do you have a bike? You *might* be able to ride for exercise until your toe gets better. I like cycling 'cause it burns WAY more calories faster than walking

Maybe check-out some new low-carb recipes to inspire you to eat something better for lunch!

Re: Im new and not sure how to do this

thank you for your reply. i am open to any new advice. I do have a bike and maybe I will try riding, I hadnt thaught of it. Also I recently tryed to substitute mashed cauliflower for mashed potatoes, it was excellent, however I did end up adding a bit of potato to it. I am always on the look out for new recipes. I had no idea how hard it would be to get back on the horse so-to-speak, I was so accustomed to what I could and couldnt eat before that it was easy to just avoid such things. I am glad to be here.

Re: Im new and not sure how to do this

        Hi, cynrose

        Welcome to ADBB!

The slope can get quite slippery, cant' it? It's so easy to get out of control, and hard to get it back. But you CAN do it!

First thing - if you haven't read this yet, please click on the link and give it a look. http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...-new-read.html This is some information I put together to help those who are starting/re-starting the Atkins WOE (way of eating). It contains tips, important links to information and popular spots on the board, and a link to a great website that a lot of us use for recipes. The food/recipe forum on this board is good, as well, and I've included that link, too.

Next, exercise - Julie's idea of the bike is right on! It's great that you have one... riding my bike outdoors is one of my favorite ways to exercise. And you can always do some floor work while you're watching TV... crunches, leg lifts, butt-squeezes (not sure what else to call them ), etc. Every little bit helps, and if you do the floor work consistently and add reps as you get stronger, you really can tell a difference.

Stick close to this board - this is a great place for support. Good luck!

Re: Im new and not sure how to do this

Hey cynrose! I am also new to...well...this website at least lol . I am not so new to the Atkins WOE, as I've done it a few times before and always had great success, but always lost my way again, and always gaining back everything and then some. This time I'm looking to keep it off as I'm older and wiser! Anyway enough about me... yes, WELCOME to the site! I've been here only a few days now and it's already become a cornerstone! The support is wonderful and little things like tickers, become a huge motivation! Come on in the waters great!

            Welcome to the board, cynrose!

And congrats on the new little one. Babies are such a blessing but the hormones that come with them aren't!!

You will find all the support and guidance you need right here so drink your water, count your carbs and do whatever exercise you can with your broken toe. Floor exercise will probable not be a good idea right now because I know how hard it is to get up off the floor with a broken toe or sore foot. But you can do this and we are here to help. Good luck!

Re: Im new and not sure how to do this

It is so good to hear from all of you! I have a question that Ive been unable to locate elsewhere. Is whole grain rice, pasta and bread ok and if so when? i know in the induction faze its a no no but later on, is it really better than white rice, pasta and bread? Or is it still a no-go all the way? I am so proud of myself so far, with the exception of the last of the whole grain rice in the house, Ive stuck to this for almost 24 hours and im feeling good. it doesnt sound like much, but for me this is a really big deal. thank you all for your comments and suggestions.
