  • Back on the wagon

Been a while since I've done this successfully, and I don't think I've ever hit ketosis so fast. I believe I've found the culprit... relish in the tuna salad at work. My dad always said it was alright, but I've avoided it and even with vodka tonics the past three nights, I've got the telltale nausea, headache, and fatigue of the dreaded and anxiously awaited ketosis. I'm going to check one of those strips tonight and see how deep in it I am, cause this headache is making me want to rip my eyes out. I'm ready for this to pass.

    So HAY Y'ALL! Ketosis sucks

If you had alcohol, it's useless peeing on the sticks now. The acetoacetate that will be detected in your urine will come from alcohol, not from breaking down fat.

Alcohol is not allowed during Induction. Dr. Atkins wrote:

By the way, the color on the ketostix does not tell you how deep you are in ketosis. You cannot be more or less into it -- you either are or you aren't.

Maybe the vodka gave you headache (I know it does to me- depending on a few things )
Anyways I was just going to say that alcohol can give you false positive on the sticks. And that tonic has sugar in it. It is pretty sweet stuff.

You don't like ketosis? I rarely am in ketosis now on OWL but I really like it because I know I am doing things right. The transition to being in ketosis can be a bit rough. Ketosis itself it pretty smooth. (OK that breath can be a killer )

      Welcome back and good luck.

Thanks for the info. I was using diet tonic, and vodka doesn't have any carbs - so would that really have any effect on me going into ketosis? Sure feels like it. Maybe it's just from staying up all night catching up on season 4 of Weeds, hah
