I am very new to this website, this diet, and any type of low carb lifestyle. I am looking around to see if this diet will work for me. I am in my mid 30's and am raising 4 children. I've noticed that my metabolism seems to be slowing down and I have put on about 10 unwanted pounds - within the past year. Other than taking care of the kids I am not very active - physically - but would like to change that. I am hoping to find people who are using this diet to lose less than 20 pounds. So far I like what I am am seeing about this diet and am hoping to get started soon. I am a planner so I want to have all my ducks in a row before I start or I know I will not be successful. Thanks in advance!

      Welcome to the Board!

Make Atkins a lifestyle and you will certainly be successful. Don't get discouraged if you do not lose 5-10 lbs in the first two weeks, as some people do. Since you have little to lose, the lbs will come off slower. Exercise will help a lot.

Good for you to plan before starting. Many people fail because of a lack of planning.

        Welcome to the board, Momofjkck!

Just be patient and follow the guidelines to the letter and you will lose weight.

Do you have the 2002 edition of the Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution? It is the best motivator of all and it's what keeps us going and loving this way of life.

        Good luck to you!

          Re: Very new

Thank you so much for the warm welcome. I feel like I have so much to learn. I am going to check out some books at the library and will hopefully find time to read through some of them. I am sure that this forum will be so helpful as I try to sort through all of this new information. Thanks!
