  • Tired of the down hill spiral!!

    Hi. My name is Tammy and I am back again!! I am tired of the down hill spiral and tired of gaining weight. I have following the atkins plan a few times prior and lost 65 pounds the first time and went from a 16 to an 8 at 5'11" so I know I can be successful at it. I am just having a hard time committing to it. Now I have eaten myself into needing to loose 40 pounds! Here is what has happened. In September I spent a week in the Cardiac Unit (I am only 38 year old by the way) for an SVT. My heart raced to 248. Through a ton of tests the determined my heart is very healthy as is the rest of my body. I take no medication other than singulair for allergies and a Multi-vitamin. That started the eating! Then in October I received my first lumbar epideral because my back was messed up. Two months later I received another one. MORE EATING! Last month, the neuro-surgeon peformed back surgery which failed and put me in more pain than I was prior to the surgery. Yesterday I received a third lumbar epideral in hopes to relieve the pain. As of this morning, no luck. BUT, all of that aside I know I can't continue to drown my sorrows in bags of cheetos! I started this morning with what used to be my typical breakfast of 2 eggs and 2 slices of bacon. I can't let this pain get the best of me. Although I love salad and I love meat I need some help. I used to stand in the kitchen for hours cutting veggies and making atkins friendly dishes to take to work for the week, but now I need QUICK filling foods to make. I can't stand longer than a few minutes and bending is impossible, so if anyone has any suggestions that would be wonderful. Also, the nearest grocery store is 60 miles away so I keep my menu very basic (Meat and veggies with very few ingredients to make). I am going to round up the family and grill a bunch of meat today and we have a bunch of salad in the fridge so that is a nice start, but we are VERY big eaters. I know I can do this, I just really need some encouragement for the first few days. I appreciate everyone's support!! Have a nice day!

    Sorry about your illness. Glad that you are getting it back on track. All you can do is try your best and it is great that you are doing some grilling today, at least you will have lots of meat to eat.
