  • Greetings from Canada!

    Hello Everyone!

I just officially joined the Atkins family, but have experience with low carb living. As an introduction:

I used an Atkins-like eating approach 8 years ago to heal some chronic digestive problems. The objective back then was health, but the bonus was I lost 45 pounds in the process and looked fantastic! Good enough, in fact (for a then 44 year old gal), to nab my incredible husband, Greg. Once we starting living together, though, my eating habits slipped a bit (that's all it takes with me, little slips here and there), the stomach problems and weight returned, and here I am again.

We started weight training a few months ago (which I HIGHLY recommend to everyone, especially the ladies), and my muscle tone is improving steadily. I am much stronger, too, which helps with gardening, lifting, shopping, cleaning, and just about everything I do. But I mistakenly (what was I thinking?!) started tracking calories and fat instead of just carbs, and after the first 10 pounds or so (started at 219.5), stalled out for almost 3 months, despite the exercise. So now I'm back to the real deal as of May 3. (Low carb, that is.) I read the book, started Induction, and have lost 3 lbs. On my way! I can't seem to get into ketosis (according to the Ketostix, anyway), but I know things are working. I am currently reading Gary Taubes' "Good Calories Bad Calories" and would also reccomend this book to anyone. Solid scientific information on the many benefits of low carb lifestyles. But another time to discuss that, surely?

Anyway, I'm looking forward to chatting with you all! Thanks for listening (sorry this runs a bit long)!

Hi Canada. I am here too.
Low carb is great in so many ways for sure. Wonderful that induction is working for you.
You like GCBC. I had trouble with some of the science but I enjoyed the book.
I lift weights too. We have a strength challenge going in the Exercise forum if you want to join.
    Welcome to ADBB.
