Hi everyone!
My name's Sophie; I'm 22 and am from Colchester, England. I've been on Atkins for eight days now, and have lost 9lbs so far
I decided to start Atkins for a few reasons; firstly because I want to lose weight and get healthy! I'm 5'7" tall and was drifting somewhere between 194 - 198 lbs, and it wasn't good. A couple of years ago I weighed 168 and looked (and felt) much better - ideally I'd like to be 161, which is my current goal weight.
In the past I've tried to lose weight by just eating 'healthily' (lots of salads, not much else, etc) but I always end up getting bored of it and drifting back to 'normal' eating. I like to eat pasta and sugary things a lot but often find that after eating a lot of carbs I feel horribly bloated and full, which can't be good for me. I'd even been waking up with a stomach ache every morning, which was probably a sign that something wasn't agreeing with me!
Luckily though I'm quite heavy I'm not huge in size - I'm a 14/16 in UK sizes (I think that's a 12/14 in US sizes?) - but I still feel happier and healthier when I'm smaller.
My dad swears by the Atkins lifestyle and has been on the 'diet' now for about four or five years. He does allow himself treats when he wants them - when we go to restaurants, or on vacations, etc - but otherwise sticks to his long time diet and it really works!
As well as Atkins I'm also going to be swimming and exercising regularly - I've been swimming twice in the last week but hope to go at least three times, if not more, once I get into the swing of things.
So, that's me - I've been reading posts on the board since I began and I've found them so helpful, I thought I'd join up! Thanks for having me
