  • Hello...

    Hello to all,

I am new here to atkinsbulletinboard, and was referred by my bestfriend specialk. I am very excited about being here and learning more about atkins, reading success stories, getting tips for the lifestyle change, receipes, and anything else any of you would like to share with me.

I love to laugh/have fun, and I am sure that over time you will get to know that I need encouraging, so feel free to do so.

I look forward to this new experience...

    Re: Hello...

hi and welcome GiGi -- I'm glad you are here and have a friend here already! This is a wonderful place for support, inspiration and friendship.

Here are a few links to help get you started -- make sure you read the 2002 DANDR book and learn why it's important to follow the plan as written. Good luck to you -- if you need anything all you have to do is ask

The Rules of Induction can be found here:

The Induction Acceptable Foods List can be found here:

This is from the "Read before you start" post

Be sure to drink a minimum of 64 ounces of water each day, including:
    Filtered water
    Mineral water
    Spring water
    Tap water

Additionally (after your 64 ounces daily), you can have the following:

Clear broth/bouillon (not all brands; read the label)
    Club soda
Cream, heavy or light (limit to two to three tablespoons a day; note carb content)
    Decaffeinated coffee or tea*
Diet soda made with sucralose (Splenda); be sure to count the carbs (may cause a stall in weight loss)
Essence-flavored seltzer (must say "no calories" and should not contain aspartame)
Herb tea (without barley or any fruit sugar added)
Lemon juice or lime juice (note that each contains 2.8 grams carbohydrate per ounce); limit to two to three tablespoons

*Excessive caffeine may cause unstable blood sugar and should be avoided by those who suspect they are caffeine dependent. Everyone should try to avoid caffeine. Grain beverages (coffee substitutes) are not allowed. Alcoholic beverages are also not permitted during Induction; those low in carbohydrates are an option, in moderation, in later phases.

        Re: Hello...

You can create a ticker, then paste the code into your siggy.

There are lots of sites where you can create tickers, including right here at ADBB - just click on 'Tickers' in the dark blue band at the top of your screen. Follow the instructions to create the ticker. Remember the username & password it gives you, you'll need them to update your ticker. Copy the "BB" code.

Click on 'User CP' in the dark blue band at the top of your screen. On the left-hand side of the screen, pick 'Edit Signature'. Paste the BB Code in your signature.

Click 'Preview' & you'll see how it'll look.
