Hi, I "did" Atkins 10 years ago with great success. I lost 50lbs over the course of a year. I took it nice and slow on purpose and the weight stayed off for several years until I got pregnant..it has been back on for 6 years now. My goal this time is to lose 72 lbs. I would like to lose it over the next year with a short term goal of 30 pounds by August 9. I have started Atkins several times over the past 6 years but have not stuck to it. I have lost the same 12 pounds at least 3 times a year! My husband is a Chef and we are caterers so I am surrounded by temptation! I have joined the forum for support and accountability. I look forward to posting my before and after pictures. I'm 5'10" and weigh 230.8 pounds my goal is 158 lbs.

Re: I'm an Atkins Girl!
Welcome LYSA. Get your head in it and post every day on the site and that can help keep you on track just like you said. You will be absolutely slender at 158! (I am 5'8" and my goal is 165 but I am muscular 'for a girl'.) Best of luck on your journey!

Re: I'm an Atkins Girl!
Welcome to the board, Lysa!
Boy, working at catering would be a tempting job! I know a lot of my weight problems stem from growing up in my parents restaurant! And I am still surrounded by good cooks but I've gotten to the point on Atkins that all that carbage doesn't even phase me anymore. I see it, smell it, work with it but I'm not at all tempted to eat it. You can get there too by just sticking with the plan.
It might help you to check out the Second Time Around Club for those of us who have done Atkins before. The daily roll call helps to get the day started on the right foot.
Good luck to you and keep us posted on your progress!

Re: I'm an Atkins Girl!
Thank you both for the encouragement. I'm trying to learn my way around this sight with the postings and what not..I would also love to become a member of the second time around club and be able to post the weight "ticker". If you can let me know how it is done I would appreciate it! Oh by the way..yesterday first day full on...chef brought me a cookie..I declined only had about 10 carbs yesterday..Skyline Chili and Cheese. Hope today goes as well! Had a bit of a Long Island Ice Tea for lunch.

Re: I'm an Atkins Girl!
Welcome LYSA...Have you read the book ? If you haven't, you should pick up a copy and dive in. It's an easy read. I read it in three nights. It provides great insights into what to do but, more importantly, *why* to do it.
Welcome aboard - you'll do great!
P.S. You might want to skip the LI Iced Teas....

I needed to make up for yesterday when I "caved" I tried to get on-line for support and could not do it fast enough.. :-( I'm so glad we get another chance!. I will weigh in on Tuesday I'm trying to figure out how to download one of those clever weight "tickers". Hopefully I'll figure it out tonight. Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!!!
