  • second time's a charm.

    Hi all,

So glad I found this board!! I first did Atkins way back in 2003. I was successful in shedding 65 pounds. Unfortunately like so many other poor souls, I thought it would be a quick fix, and that I could go back to a high carb lifestyle. Well three children and 90 pounds heavier, here I am. Gonna do it right this time!! Too bad it took me 6 years to realize that Atkins is not a diet but a life time commitment to being healthy. Better late then never, right? I have a 2 1/2 year old little girl and 5 month old twin daughters. I can not think of a better reason to become a better and healthier me. I want to be able to have the energy to play with my children and to watch them grow. If I kept going the way that I was, there is no telling if that would happen.

Doing pretty well so far. I am a little over three weeks in. I lost 16 pounds during induction and have to decided ( for now) to extend it a little longer. The third week I gained a pound. So glad to have read that this is common. If no weight loss in the next couple of weeks, I plan on moving on to OWL. Wish me luck. Looking forward to being an active member of this wonderful board.

Glad to see you are back on the diet. I too, am one that tried to use the diet as a quick fix. It's great that it allows you to lose the weight, but you can put it back on in what seems like half the time. We have to look at this as a lifestyle change and quit putting ourselves through the torture of losing the same pounds over and over.
