  • Let's do this!

    Hey everyone!

My name is Dave. I am 25 and have stuggled with my weight for all my life. My mom had me do Atkins when I was younger to lose weight. It definitely worked. Over the subsequent years I would lose, then gain back, then lose and gain back. It wasn't until i served a two year religious mission in the Philippines that I reached an all time low of 192 lbs. (which is pretty skinny for me considering my frame). I ended up joining the Army, then I met the woman of my dreams and got married. Soon after getting married I started gaining weight, becoming a father to my son didn't help the situation. As it stands I am about (I haven't weighed myself in a while) 330 lbs. I have decided that in the best interest of myself and my family I need to lose 130 lbs. I have a singing competition in Anaheim the first week of July. My goal is to be under 300 lbs. by then!

My weight affects so many aspects of my life. Having been in shape and "sexy" before has made this particular "weight rebound" even more frustrating. I stumbled upon this forum one day and was so inspired by some of your stories. I am so grateful to have a support group that I can look to for encouragement. Let's help each other to reach our goals and become the best we can be!

    Thanks for sharing your story.
Please review the rules for being on Induction. Many people who restart kins of wing it and think they remember what to do but then it turns out there were some bad habits in there. It really helps to go clean on induction both to get that weight off and to get those cravings under control.
    Good luck.

      Re: Let's do this!

Hi Dave, Welcome to the Atkins board. I'd like to say , "Good for you!! For wanting to better yourself for your Children. Teaching them healthy habits as children so often imitate what they see. What better gift, than the gift of a parent who is fit, and able to be active and alive right along side their offspring.
The only thing I guess you need to really do.. is think about this as a Way Of Life, not a diet. If you go back to your old habits after loosing all the weight, you bound to yet again, be right back here, where you don't want to be. Make up your mind, and believe in yourself, that this is it, this is the time for majorFOR LIFE changes. Make new habits , and after doing them daily for awhile, they start to stick. Read the Book. Refer back to as often as you need. I glean something new from it , each time i reread it. Much success to you Dave!!! Your gonna do GREAT!
