  • New!!!!

Hello, I am new to all of this and not sure what to say. I have been on induction faithfully for 2weeks and 4 days. I have decided to do an extended induction. I have not cheated at all and have been exercising 3-4 times a week for 60 min at a time, jogging, walking, bike riding, eliptical trainer. I have three different Atkins books all with different information in them. I have the terrible habit of weighing myself all of the time and I am getting very discouraged. Sometimes the scale says I have lost 10lbs then 8lb 4lb 6lb 5lb. Never the same thing so I am not sure what I have lost. The ketostix (which I just started using) were a very pale pink, today are beige. I feel like I am not doing this right so for the past two days I ahve cut out all veggies like one of the books suggests for 5 days to see what happens. I am getting very discouraged, not sure what the heck to do.

    Oh dear.
First of all do not cut out all vegetables. You do want to have nutrients. Your body need nutrients. If your body does not get what it needs it may go into protest mode.
It is very normal to have a pause after the first week or first couple of weeks. We all have experienced that. It does not mean we are not doing it right or that it is not working. It is just the body pausing. It will start again. Just keep going. And eat your vegetables girl. You're not thinking a few veggies are making you fat are you?

Here we follow Atkins 2002. It works for us. No mixing and matching and panicking.
    Good luck.

      Re: New!!!!

If you're going to weigh yourself "all the time".... Your best bet is to do it once a day... first thing in the morning after using the bathroom. Any other time of day and you are probably weighing any food and water you have had also.

Now... weight fluctuations are perfectly normal. You can't expect the human body to respond like a machine. It's a big biological process with a lot of different chemical factors to balance every day.

          Re: New!!!!

Hi! Im a newbie as well and Ive been experiencing the same woes! I lost 17 pounds in the first 2 weeks and then none since then! Ive researched and read a thousand message boards it seems like this is very common. I havent cheated not even once and Ive exercised like a mad woman. Its apparently our bodies pausing. I will suggest this; take your measurements! I didnt lose any weight but I lost inches even though the doomed scale wasnt showing my efforts. Also limit your aspertame intake, atkins bars, and DRINK DRINK DRINK water!! LOL Good luck, just remember there are many others on this forum that have experienced the same problem; Im one of them! We can do this!! Stick with it!!!
