  • Desperation!....

Hello everybody. I am 18 years old, female, 5"10 and i weigh 200lbs.
I have tried this diet many many times over the past 2 years, and i just dont think i have ever done it right, i bust myself all week, then at the weekend i just give in.
This is it though, this time i am going to do it right. There is no point breaking my no-carb rule.
I am going on a holiday with 7 other girls, they are ALL like 110lbs. I look like a hippopautamaus in comparison. It really gets me down.

I love exercising and i don't ever have the desire for carbs.
Im willing to do the atkins as strict as possible until August. I really want to do, i mean i don't want to start college as a big girl.

cAN ANYONE HELP ME GET STARTED IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION?

    thank you soo much! =)

Welcome sunshine. Hope to see you some more on the board.
Atkins is not a no-carb diet. We eat carbs we just choose them carefully.

Here are some threads in our FAQ that will help you.

That's your first mistake. Atkins is NOT a no-carb diet. Your are required to get a large portion of your 20 grams of carbs from low carb veggies--3 cups a day in the first 14 days. Also, cheese, eggs, cream, sour cream, avocado, Splenda, lemon or lime juice are all Induction friendly, but all contain carbs.

You also need to know that Atkins is high fat, moderate protein diet. You need to keep your fat higher than your protein. It's also not an "all-you-can-eat" diet consisting of fatty meats, eggs and cheese.

Atkins is very healthy, done right. You will end up slimmer and much more healthy if you do it right. Induction is not all there is to the diet. After induction, you move into OWL (ongoing weight loss) where you start to add back in foods not allowed in Induction in a prescribed manner, so you can find out how many and what kind of carbs your body will tolerate. If you have low resistance, you should be able to add back in everything but sugar and white flour products.

Other than that, exercise is not optional and neither is drinking your water. You are allowed 3 servings of artificial sweeteners a day, so know that diet sodas will stall you out.

No matter what the new Atkins Diet website says, the bars and shakes are not Induction legal, and will keep you from losing.

Commit yourself to doing a 14-day clean induction, and there will be no more "breaking at the weekend." Your cravings will be under control and your appetite will be suppressed by ketosis. It's all good.
People who say it can't be done, should not interrupt those doing it.

"Some men give up their designs when they have almost reached the goal; While others, on the contrary, obtain a victory by exerting, at the last moment, more vigorous efforts than ever before."

        Welcome to the board, sunshine!

You can do this, just keep reminding yourself that carbs are not your friends!

          Re: Desperation!....

hi Sunshine -- to help you get on the right track you've already been given quite a bit of good information from Liv and Sunny.....here is what I can offer - recipe sites - find induction recipes that will help you get your carbs in. Don't eat the same thing over and over, you'll get bored and want to stop - there is too much variety here for that to happen.

Drink AT LEAST 64 ounces of pure water daily - nothing added - just water. Get a large glass with a straw and sip all day until you have enough water in you. This will help flush all the nasties out of your system, will get your organs working properly and will help stop cravings.

Everyday you need to do some sort of exercise - walk, dance, buy an exercise DVD, the more you move the better you will feel and it will help the weight come off.

If you need anything all you have to do is ask -- we're always here. Good luck
