  • Kate from California!

Hi everyone, my name's Kate, I'm 21, and I'm from the foothills of California. I've tried the Atkins diet a few times off and on and had success with it... let's face it, I'm just a carb-craving maniac, so I ended up off Atkins for a long while... too long. I'm short, so my ideal weight is around 140-160... I'm 209 lbs. now! It sent me into shock and I knew I had to get back on track again. I researched the Zone Diet, but the measurements were way too complicated, so I decided to get back to Atkins, despite everyone's fears and misconceptions of it ("You'll go into ketosis and lose muscle mass" etc.) I'm sure, as with all things, there's a truly healthy way to go about it where I won't have any danger and I'll reach my weight goal someday, even if it's a year or two from now. Nice to meet you all!
    Live for the moment!

Hi Welcome back. Glad you decided to join us. This is the best place to be for encouragment and motivation to do this WOE. I've been doing Atkins for a bit over a year and it is the best thing I've ever done for myself. I feel fantastic. Make sure you read the book and do Atkins exactly like Dr. Atkins says. Take your supplements, drink lots of water and exercise. It won't be long and you'll be dropping inches and pounds.

Don't worry about what negative people say. I still hear from others that I am living unhealthy. I have to laugh because I have never felt better. I exercise every day and eat healthier than I've ever eaten before. Everyone here is more than willing to answer your questions and keep you motivated. Best Wishes!!

          Welcome to the board.

Do what you already know works. People will always have opinions and that is all they are. Just tell them to read the book and then come talk to you.

          Good luck.
          Jim

As for other people...hon, if we all waited until everyone agreed with what we're doing, we'd never do anything!
