We are all here for the same reason so I'm not ashamed to be on a diet in this setting. I don't think it's a bad thing to diet, but I certainly hear lots of discouragement from my peers. I should have taken the advice I was given and just kept it to myself. Hopefully here, I can discuss my concerns and questions without judgment.

One tip I've found that works is to not tell people that I'm "dieting". If asked, I simply explain that I've cut out sugar and reduced my carb intake. If they're genuinely interested, you can then tell them all about the Atkins experience. It really reduces the un-informed and un-requested advice.
