  • Trying to get healthy

:wave Hi from Big Sky Country, Montana
I'm a 50 something grandma who has been fighting my weight for over 30 years and I'm tired of yo-yo diets. I've been on Weight Watchers (twice) and for the past year I was on LA Weight Loss and I lost about 3 pounds a week until I got serious about a good workout at the gym. The scale started going in the WRONG dirction. The poeple, althought very nice, could not offer me any help or encouragement but kept telling me I wasn't following the plan correctly. In a last minute of despreation, I decided to give Atkins a try. Why? My oldest daughter has been on Atkins for over a year now and has lost 95 pounds! I'm very proud of her and I figured, why not. So here I am, on day 2 and by next week I hope to see a change on the scale.

I have a trainer at the gym who asures me that I am doing everything right, and not to give up. That one day I will see a big change in my body.
I do weight training 3 days a week and water aerobics 3 days a week (Mon, Wed, Fri) and a spin class 2 days a week (Tue and Thurs). I am getting stronger, more flexible and feel better over all. I know I am converting fat to muscle. But I really get despressed when I step on the scale and I've gained 3 pounds. I need support and I hope I can find it here.

My interest are my grandkids, riding my motorcycle and camping and fishing with my best friend, my husband.

    Welcome to ha

Great job with the exercise commitment! And now you're combining that with the greatest commitment of all -- Atkins! Good for you! Hon, you will never regret it!

You want to get healthy? I can't think of a better way!!

I started Atkins in January 2002 "for 2 weeks" ... Fast forward to today .. 3 years, 3 months and 12 days later ... I am easily maintaining a 38 pound weight loss (11 pounds below my initial goal), running 32 miles a week and training for a 1/2 marathon next January! Not a bad achievement for a former potato-holic, burgers, fries, shakes COUCH POTATO!!

IF I CAN DO IT, YOU CAN DO IT!

Welcome to the board! I wish you the best of luck on your journey.

And you have a lot to be proud of in that daughter of yours, besides the weight loss.
