  • Low carber, turned low calorie, turned low carber!

Hello! So, my story is fairly complicated, but I'll explain it as quickly as possible.

After I my met my husband in Nov. 2003, (fresh out of high school) I weighed 200 lbs. I told him I was interested in losing some weight. He then revealed to me he had lost 100 lbs. doing low carb and suggested we do it together. He made me watch the Atkins tapes (yes, VHS) and the deal was sealed.

By mid 2004 I had lost 25 lbs. which put me at 175. We did the diet for about 8 months and slacked off a bit. We didn't eat unhealthy, it was all still low carb food, just less strict. I still shed a few lbs. here and there.

For my wedding in Jan. 2006 I walked down the aisle at a happy 145. With no thanks to the buffets and expensive restaurants in las Vegas on our honeymoon, I came back a hefty 165.

I remained that weight until I started doing a very strict low carb/low cal combo in 2007. By mid 2007 I had gotten down to 135, dropped a few here and there over the course of 2007/2008. My lowest weight so far has been 127. Over the past 6 months I have fluctuated between 127-135 doing mostly low calorie...still limiting (but not excluding) bread and pasta.

My husband kept all the weight he gained on our honeymoon, so being the supportive wife I am, I've decided to get back on the low carb train (toot, toot!) in an effort to lose the weight I've put on, as well as to help him get back to his lowest, 195. So far, it's day 3 of induction and I'm at 133. Not really pleased that I've gained 3 lbs. (1 lb a day since starting), but I'm sure it will all shed as my body adjusts.

Anyway, thats my story. If you've made it this far, I guess it wasn't too boring! (Or was it?)

Not at all boring! Welcome back! Do you have Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution 2002? (That's what we go by around here). The "rules" are also in the sticky posts at the top of the induction forum.

Yes, I have the 2002 version! Thats actually the year my husband started doing the diet so thats what we go by. I think I will go back and get reacquainted with the "rules" just to make sure I'm not missing anything. Thanks! )

Welcome. Sounds like you're a very seasoned low carber. Hope things work out well.
I think double checking the rules is always good. Some nasty habits tend to creep in sometimes.

Hey there! Good to see you in the STAC'rs roll call. Love your story. Mine is similar (only minus the husband and significant weight loss.... ) but our BMIs and goals are similar, so I'm with you in the "featherweight" category. I feel like it's challenging in different ways because to get down to that level, every carb AND calorie counts.

Am confident that we can do it, though!

Yes, it's very frustrating being a featherweight. I've only been on the diet 5 days now and I'm feeling very positive my number will come up on the scale eventually. It's going to take a lot longer than it's taking my husband to shed the lbs. I literally am counting EVERY carb and EVERY calories. Ugh.
