  • New to Atkins

Hi there. I am so happy to have found this board! I was googling "what to eat on induction" and came across this wonderful group of supportive people. I just turned 40 a few days ago, am happily married and have two wonderful kids, ages 12 and 14. The sad news is, I knew I had been gaining weight lately (huge appetite, no desire to exercise, stress, etc,) so I decided to step on the scale this morning. I am at 196...YIKES!!!! I know I need to stop it now before my weight gets even more out of control. How did I let this happen???? This weekend is filled with cookouts, etc., so normally I would put the diet of until Tuesday, but not this time. I will hit 200 if I eat all weekend long, and I just can't do that to myself!! I hope to jump right in, get involved, check out other groups, and get to know you guys. Thanks for reading!!

    Welcome to the board!

You've come to the right place for support and encouragement!

This weekend doesn't have to derail you, I'm looking forward to it! I love grilled chicken, hot dogs, hamburgers, and veggies. Just skip the potato salad and macaroni salad, eat the meat without bread or buns and you will be full and satisfied!

You should also get a copy of the 2002 edition of the Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution! It's the one we use here and it's a great motivator. Mine is lying open on the countertop right now even though I've had it for 5 years and have read it dozens of times!

    Good luck to you!

      Welcome!

Am very jealous - have spent a fair amount of time in Greensboro and it is beautiful! Also jealous of your cook-out - I love all those grilled meats, but I live in an apartment!! :-(

      Very best of luck!

          Thanks for reading and replying!

Slides: Actually, I live in Greensboro!

Liv: not sure what you mean by mark your calendar. Do you mean set goals with specific dates? Can ya tell I am a newbie????

Thanks again. I'll let ya know how the cookouts go. For tonight, I've been asked to make Asian coleslaw, which I love, but will SKIP this time!

I just meant mark Tuesday so you know you are starting.
Specific goals are not that good. But goals are good.
