  • Struggling to succeed

I started the Atkins several weeks ago and couldn't be on it longer than a week. The Induction phase made me feel horrible (nothing of the energy bursts I expected after the third day!). I lost my cravings, but I also lost ANY wish to look at food. Whatever I would think of eating, made me feel like I need to vomit. My stomach ached horribly and I was literally starving because I was disgusted of food! Finally, my husband made me stop it 'cause he got worried that I might seriously harm my health!
However, that week gave me a solid foundation for what I call 'fits-me-diet'. I am naturally more into meat and vegetables and very rarely need something sweet. The only thing I am not able to give up are potatoes. I really love potatoes, but I'm trying to have them once or twice a week (one or two meals a week!). So far I have lost 7,5 kg (I don't know how much it is in pounds!) My starting weight was 125 kg, and I actually wrote 122 because I was ashamed of it!
I am also under the met treatment for a month. It really makes some amazing changes into my body, so I believe it also help my metabolism in the undergoing process.
So, just like many others I admire the before and after stories and pics and this time decided to take my time. My goal is 74 kg so i have a long way to go. If you have any useful advice, feel free to do it.

    Re: Struggling to succeed

make sure to follow the Atkins diet 100% its made out really well

make sure at the start of the diet you eat 20 net carbs max and make sure you eat ratios of around 65% fat 30% protein 5% carbs

fitday.com can help you with that

a egg is 61% fat so its not that hard to eat 65% fat

and remmber to drink extra extra water when your loseing weight to help flush the toxins out of your body ya the fat you lose is full of toxins i think or something so thats another reason people feel crappy at the start of the diet xD

remmber eating that high % fat is a must it will encourage your body to switch to a fat burning metabolism and thats when you get the energy boost

and no more potatos remember its very important to follow the Rungs and potatos are only allowed on Rung 7 or 8 a far ways away

and remmber to spend time on these forums and read lots of stuff you will learn how to do the diet properly and it will make things so much easyer

I agree with ziggy. Find out more about what Atkins is all about.

I am glad you are losing and that you have found something that works for you.

Potatoes are not compatible with the induction phase of Atkins. Potatoes are pretty much pure starch and make our bloodsugar go gaga for the most part. You have to think about what is important to you. Unfortunately we have to make some sacrifices when we have to lose weight.
