  • Starting tomorrow - apprehensive

    Hi

well, as you might have guessed I am a newbi .
I have read the book, I am rearing to go, but I am also a bit apprehensive.
Yes, I am one of those who have attempted other diets before - and failed. (yo yo here I come).
But Atkins made sense to me (carbs just send me sky high), so I am hoping that it will be different and committed to give it a go for at least 14 days.

But hey, as I tend to say: let's rock and roll.

I will definitely be looking out for all of you/your help in the forum.

    Re: Starting tomorrow - apprehensive

Welcome to the group. I was pretty leery of Atkins...until the 5th day of induction. Holy smokes! The weight was coming off and I felt GOOD for the first time in years. I've paid thousands of dollars for different diet tricks, secrets, plans...etc. None of them worked. I've been on Atkins for a little over a month and have lost 22lbs and am feeling fabulous. The best parts are that you're never hungry and there's flavor to your meals. You'll be hooked in no time! Congrats on your decision and I can't wait to see your results!

      Re: Starting tomorrow - apprehensive

When I do low carb, my head clears and I realize I was living in a fog. I like having energy and a clear head, and I bet you will too! It is hard the first few days but then it is like breaking through a dark tunnel into bright sunshine. When you get into ketosis fully, you really should feel like a million bucks. Your body says, 'burn fat for energy? I have plenty of that, woohoo!' and off you go. Enjoy!

If possible, don't plan to have to be terribly productive on days 3/4 or thereabouts, you will likely be detoxing big time. The worse your carb habit has been, the harder the detox, but it is worth muddling through to the other side!

          Re: Starting tomorrow - apprehensive

welcome - - I hope you commit to the plan for more than 14 days because you will only be beginning by that time. As you already know the first few days are the worst but have no fear we have been there, gone through it and lived to tell the tale!!

We've all been in your shoes the day we started so if you need any help be sure to ask. Make sure you get enough veggies in daily (more than just lettuce) and eat a variety of foods - keep your fats up to help keep from getting hungry and tired. Drink a MINIMUM of 64 ounces of water daily - more is better but at least 64 ounces. That is PURE water - only ice added.

Here are some links to recipe sites where you can find great meals - make sure you are making induction friendly meals until you are moving on to OWL. Don't make the mistake of eating the same thing over and over then thinking it's too hard to stick to the plan - I only eat the same thing if I want to - not because I HAVE to!!

There are new challenges starting on Monday - check them out - it's a great way to commit to yourself and to meet new people.

          Good luck to you.
