Hello, just a quick intro. This is first day of induction. Have a little headache is all, day's been great! I know it ain't gonna be easy or a pink cloud. But want to get through this to finally start losing some horrid habits & unnecessary weight (am 80 pounds overweight, ugh) past yr. Was 120 4 yrs ago & remember how great it felt. Want to get back there just a day at a time. Am sick & tired of being fat and having clothes get tighter & tighter each year. The past two years have put on thirty more pounds. I was at 172. Had serious surgery & was home 6wks & put on 20 & blah blah blah! lol...Now am ready to get to the solution of all this nonsense & not feel like a victim of own bad habits. Am looking forward to getting to know all of you better & responding to your posts & learning a lot here! Goodbye for now!

Welcome to Atkins and the board, balletlover!
Your headache will soon be gone and you will feel better than ever. We call it the induction flu but it's from breaking the addiction to carbs and usually passes quickly.
A signature is all the info a person puts at the end of their posts. It includes text and pictures and everyone has their own. To make yours, click on the 'Quick Links' in the blue toolbar at the top of page, then click on 'edit signature'.
Good luck. You can do it!

Welcome to ADBB.
Happy second day on induction.
It is a bit of transition but once you get into it it will be a breeze.

Welcome -- I'm glad you are sick and tired because that's the best incentive to do something about it! We've all been in your shoes and have made it through to tell the tale!! Good luck to you -- here are some links & info that may be useful! If you have any questions or need anything we're here for you!!
Make sure you are eating induction recipes only until you are ready to move onto OWL. Grain beverages (coffee substitutes) are not allowed. Alcoholic beverages are also not permitted during Induction; those low in carbohydrates are an option, in moderation, in later phases.

Exercise is not an option – it is mandatory ….. don’t say you can’t find a way and start today!
Atkins bars and shakes are NOT acceptable during induction – they are made with non-induction ingredients and cause stalling in many people. Just remember - if it’s not on the acceptable food list – it doesn’t go in your mouth!
This is from the "Read before you start" thread in the 14 day Induction area:
Drink a minimum of 64 ounces of water each day, including:
Filtered water
Mineral water
Spring water
Tap water
After your 64 ounces daily you can have the following:
Clear broth/bouillon (not all brands; read the label)
Club soda
Cream, heavy or light (limit to two to three Tablespoons a day; note carb content)
Decaffeinated coffee or tea*
Diet soda made with sucralose (Splenda); be sure to count the carbs (may cause a stall in weight loss)
Essence-flavored seltzer (must say "no calories" and should not contain aspartame)
Herb tea (without barley or any fruit sugar added)
Lemon juice or lime juice (note that each contains 2.8 grams carbohydrate per ounce); limit to two to three Tablespoons
*Excessive caffeine may cause unstable blood sugar and should be avoided by those who suspect they are caffeine dependent. Everyone should try to avoid caffeine.

Hi balletlover, welcome to ADBB. The first few days are the hardest and it gets easier and easier after that. Concentrate on one day at a time and you will be well on your way before you know it.
