  • Mama's here!!

Well, I have always had an obesity problem, but never wanted to encounter it. My whole family is obese, and our way of escape through this crazy, stressful world is through eating-eating the wrong things, of course.

So after having 2 babies in 2 years (I am a busy lady), I decided I needed to change my eating habits, for my sake and my children health.

I have a great husband who is very supportive, and we both decided to lose weight and change our habits together. He is well on his way, with 50 pounds gone, and I have to fight my way to 30 pounds. He's a great support system, who challenges me to fight the good fight!

I joined for extra support-recipes, stalling weight moments, and overall help.

hi Amber -- welcome to ADBB. Remember that men loose faster and more weight than women do so don't become discouraged -- just remember he isn't like you and you aren't like him so be happy with your loss. You are lucky he is loosing weight with you and is encouraging!! Stay away from the shakes & bars (they are illegal here), drink at least 64 ounces of water daily (pure water - nothing added) and start some type of exercise immediately.

Here is some info I like to send to newbies that I hope will help. Good luck to both of you.

This is from the "Read before you start" thread in the 14 day Induction area:
Drink a minimum of 64 ounces of water each day, including:
              Filtered water
              Mineral water
              Spring water
              Tap water

After your 64 ounces daily you can have the following:
Clear broth/bouillon (not all brands; read the label)
              Club soda
Cream, heavy or light (limit to two to three Tablespoons a day; note carb content)
              Decaffeinated coffee or tea*
Diet soda made with sucralose (Splenda); be sure to count the carbs (may cause a stall in weight loss)
Essence-flavored seltzer (must say "no calories" and should not contain aspartame)
Herb tea (without barley or any fruit sugar added)
Lemon juice or lime juice (note that each contains 2.8 grams carbohydrate per ounce); limit to two to three Tablespoons

*Excessive caffeine may cause unstable blood sugar and should be avoided by those who suspect they are caffeine dependent. Everyone should try to avoid caffeine.

Grain beverages (coffee substitutes) are not allowed. Alcoholic beverages are also not permitted during Induction; those low in carbohydrates are an option, in moderation, in later phases

Hi Amber, those guys always seem to lose so easily. It isn't fair but hey, that's just the way it is.

When mine were little I remember my biggest challenge was not to finish their plates. I grew up in a house where wasting food was unheard of so not eating things they left was hard for me. I would do it without even thinking. On the plus side, you probably are pretty active during the day with two tiny ones to chase around.
