  • Trying It Again

Well I guess I'm considered a second time arounder or something but here is a little something about me:

I did Atkins and used this board about three years ago under the name Seshena (I think) and I lost 55 lbs. It was fantastic! I was so happy and energetic. Then two years ago I met someone, got married, had my second child...okay well, let's be honest, I had the baby first then married the father...LOL....anyway...my child is now 14 months old and I am 35 lbs heavier again. I am ready to get myself back to the way I was and hopefully drop a few more pounds to boot. I really need to be healthier and have more energy again for my two children. It definately betters their lives when I am lighter and healthier. So here's to me giving it the old "college try".......

I have faith in you, sounds like you are doing it for all the right reasons!! You've done it before and you can do it again. Good luck

Started this diet on Sun 4/26/09

50 lbs gone on Sun 9/27/09

Well its been over a year now and I am currently on maintenance and still trying to adjust to the "new" ME. No major struggles to report, just livin' day to day.

    What worked for me...http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...y-success.html

      Re: Trying It Again

I don't know if I think of it as second-time-around...more like, getting back on the wagon. We have our lapses, life gets in the way (darn all that marriage and babies stuff, lol), and thenn we get our feet back under us and we're back to the Atkins Way Of Life.

        Hi,

I know how you feel about having the baby fat still there
I gained 47lbs with my daughter and one year on Ive managed to loose 6lbs. So best of luck the toughest bit is when your cooking carb meals for your family....

          Re: Trying It Again

hi and welcome back -- the only thing that matters is you are here and ready to start!!! Congrats on marriage and baby....it sounds like you want everything possible for yourself and your family so.

Here are some links to recipe sites and a couple other reminders to get you going again. If you need anything all you have to do is ask - we're all here for each other.

Make sure you are eating induction recipes only until you are ready to move onto OWL.
Exercise is not an option – it is mandatory ….. don’t say you can’t find a way and start today! Atkins bars and shakes are NOT acceptable during induction – they are made with non-induction ingredients and cause stalling in many people. Just remember - if it’s not on the acceptable food list – it doesn’t go in your mouth!

          Rules of Induction:

This is from the "Read before you start" thread in the 14 day Induction area:
Drink a minimum of 64 ounces of water each day, including:
          Filtered water
          Mineral water
          Spring water
          Tap water

After your 64 ounces daily you can have the following:
Clear broth/bouillon (not all brands; read the label)
          Club soda
Cream, heavy or light (limit to two to three Tablespoons a day; note carb content)
          Decaffeinated coffee or tea*
Diet soda made with sucralose (Splenda); be sure to count the carbs (may cause a stall in weight loss)
Essence-flavored seltzer (must say "no calories" and should not contain aspartame)
Herb tea (without barley or any fruit sugar added)
Lemon juice or lime juice (note that each contains 2.8 grams carbohydrate per ounce); limit to two to three Tablespoons

*Excessive caffeine may cause unstable blood sugar and should be avoided by those who suspect they are caffeine dependent. Everyone should try to avoid caffeine.

Grain beverages (coffee substitutes) are not allowed. Alcoholic beverages are also not permitted during Induction; those low in carbohydrates are an option, in moderation, in later phases

              Re: Trying It Again

Thanks everyone for the words of encouragement.....like I said, not really sure if it's a second time around thing but yeah, I'm definately ready for this....I know that you shouldn't weigh every day and that you need to measure too.......but I didnt get the chance to measure yet, will have to do that tomorrow night or saturday when the kids are relaxing and i have a few moments to myself and umm i did weigh today and just after one day of eating the right way i dropped 2.6 lbs....and water weight or not, that is just the little thing i need to see with my eyes to make my brain say "yes this is the way i need to go...i can do it!!!"

Anyway, thanks again for all the welcome backs and words of encouragement!...I'm so excited and so ready!
