  • (",) Hello Everyone!

    Hello All,

I hope you are all well and healthy. Just wanted to introduce myself Im Shanila 32 years old and from Scotland UK. I done the Atkins Diet several years back and lost my excess weight so 5 years along the line and gaining 47lbs after having a baby Im back to Atkins. Diabetes runs severly in my family so Im veryyyyyy carb sensitive in the long run there is no other diet option for me.

Just in induction phase started 3 days ago.

So wish me luck and good luck to everyone who is hoping to attain their ideal weight.

Well heres to wishing you the best and welcome!! Diabetes took my mother at the early age of 55 so I understand where you are coming from. Hope you get healthy and lose the baby fat (it was worth it though huh?)

Started this diet on Sun 4/26/09

50 lbs gone on Sun 9/27/09

Well its been over a year now and I am currently on maintenance and still trying to adjust to the "new" ME. No major struggles to report, just livin' day to day.

    What worked for me...http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...y-success.html

      Hey,

So sorry to hear about your mum. You must miss her like mad. Totally worth it about having a lil baby. It makes you realize exactly how much our own mothers did for us. A total blessing.

Take care hope you reach your goal weight.

welcome back -- good luck this time. Check the recipe sites - it will help you from getting bored. I try a new recipe each week ... some I love some I won't be having again...lol!! Here is some information to remind you how things go.

Make sure you are eating induction recipes only until you are ready to move onto OWL.
Exercise is not an option – it is mandatory ….. don’t say you can’t find a way and start today! Atkins bars and shakes are NOT acceptable during induction – they are made with non-induction ingredients and cause stalling in many people. Just remember - if it’s not on the acceptable food list – it doesn’t go in your mouth!

          Rules of Induction:

This is from the "Read before you start" thread in the 14 day Induction area:
Drink a minimum of 64 ounces of water each day, including:
          Filtered water
          Mineral water
          Spring water
          Tap water

After your 64 ounces daily you can have the following:
Clear broth/bouillon (not all brands; read the label)
          Club soda
Cream, heavy or light (limit to two to three Tablespoons a day; note carb content)
          Decaffeinated coffee or tea*
Diet soda made with sucralose (Splenda); be sure to count the carbs (may cause a stall in weight loss)
Essence-flavored seltzer (must say "no calories" and should not contain aspartame)
Herb tea (without barley or any fruit sugar added)
Lemon juice or lime juice (note that each contains 2.8 grams carbohydrate per ounce); limit to two to three Tablespoons

*Excessive caffeine may cause unstable blood sugar and should be avoided by those who suspect they are caffeine dependent. Everyone should try to avoid caffeine.

Grain beverages (coffee substitutes) are not allowed. Alcoholic beverages are also not permitted during Induction; those low in carbohydrates are an option, in moderation, in later phases
