  • Hello

It all began after I turned 30. The added 5 pounds that wouldn't go away even though I started exercising. Then another 5 then another 5 then another 5. At 48 I weighed 149 and my clothes were again to tight. When confronted with a new wardrobe I decided to put the money into a weight loss program. I joined Metabolic Research Center. They keep their plan a secret until they have your commitment. I discovered it was a high protein, low carb, low fat program. Nothing wrong with that but after 2 weeks of being hungary and having a hard time finding much variety in food, I had lost a grand total of 2 pounds. They continued to work with me and changed my program, I lost 4 pounds total in 5 weeks. That would be ok except they promised 3 a week if I did EXACTLY what they said. It was tough to do that. I started doing my own research and researched Atkins. The plans are close AFTER induction but they make their money selling their product so it was starting to get expensive (their induction was only 10 days)and I hadn't lost any weight in 2 weeks. So, I read the book, and started Atkins induction Sunday. I have found some great recipes, don't feel to deprived and have lost 2 pounds. That makes me feel so good and so hopeful that maybe I'll challenge myself alittle more and lower my goal weight.

    Re: Hello

hi and welcome rainbow -- glad you found us, have actually read the book and have started induction already. Sounds like you are well on your way.

Make sure you drink at least 64 ounces of pure water (nothing added but ice) - more water is better but no less than 64 ounces daily.

Start some type of exercise routine today - start slow if you are out of shape (like I was) but push yourself to do more each week.

You should never feel deprived on Atkins, we have such a vast variety of foods to choose from and the recipe sites make things so easy for all of us. If you get bored it's your own fault -- find a new recipe and try it out!!

Good luck to you -- check out the challenges -- there are some great ones to join and you'll meet a lot of great people!

Welcome Rainbow. I am sure you will do well in this after the restrictions you have already endured. You will also find this to be a great supportive board and it doesn'[t cost a thing except commitment!
