I have had phenominal results in the past on Atkins. From March to October 2005, I lost 110 lbs. Unfortunately, after losing my Mom in '06 and quitting smoking in '07 I am right back were I started. I am angry and ashamed with myself that I completely fell off the wagon with a thud and did not monitor the carbs in any way, shape or form. I am slightly comforted by seeing the 'Second Time Around' section on this board -that I am not the only one (but I feel bad for those suffering like me!!)
Since Xmas, I have had several bad starts on Atkins, usually ending in the 3rd week when I supplement my diet with too many low carb items from the supermarket and knock myself out of ketosis. I am giving it everything I got this time out! When I quit smoking, I found a forum very helpful in keeping me mindful of my goal everyday. I am looking for all the support I can get!
I live in Upstate NY with my BF- and I love hiking, backpacking and camping in our High Peaks Region. I can't wait to zip through the recipie section in search of meals and snacks that might not require refrigeration. I have always been on the heavy side.... but I still manage to backpack and climb our peaks- albiet a little slower than everyone else. When I am not planning trips to the 'daks, I am absorbed in Washington Redskins football (much to the chagrin of my BF and friends). Hate to wish away the summer- but preseason is just around the corner!
