  • Second Time Arounder.... tsk, tsk, tsk.

    Hi, #44aDieselGirl here.
    I have had phenominal results in the past on Atkins. From March to October 2005, I lost 110 lbs. Unfortunately, after losing my Mom in '06 and quitting smoking in '07 I am right back were I started. I am angry and ashamed with myself that I completely fell off the wagon with a thud and did not monitor the carbs in any way, shape or form. I am slightly comforted by seeing the 'Second Time Around' section on this board -that I am not the only one (but I feel bad for those suffering like me!!)

    Since Xmas, I have had several bad starts on Atkins, usually ending in the 3rd week when I supplement my diet with too many low carb items from the supermarket and knock myself out of ketosis. I am giving it everything I got this time out! When I quit smoking, I found a forum very helpful in keeping me mindful of my goal everyday. I am looking for all the support I can get!

    I live in Upstate NY with my BF- and I love hiking, backpacking and camping in our High Peaks Region. I can't wait to zip through the recipie section in search of meals and snacks that might not require refrigeration. I have always been on the heavy side.... but I still manage to backpack and climb our peaks- albiet a little slower than everyone else. When I am not planning trips to the 'daks, I am absorbed in Washington Redskins football (much to the chagrin of my BF and friends). Hate to wish away the summer- but preseason is just around the corner!

    Can't wait to meet everyone on the boards (so to speak)! Thanks for the read!

    Welcome back to Atkins, dieselgirl!

    We have all at one time or another been where you are now and have found our way back to health and happiness, and you can do it too!

    Your love of hiking will be a great way to help stay on the plan and get lots of exercise.

    I love football too only I'm a Steelers fan. They will be starting training any time now!

    Keep us posted on your progress.

      Hockey is still going on guys. Last game on Friday

      Maybe starting a journal would help you Diesel. It helps me be more accountable.

        Hi and welcome diesel -- when I lived Upstate I was forced to root for the Bills....I liked the Browns better but wasn't allowed to say anything in the "season ticket forever" holding family I married into! Oh well, I'm back in the midwest and can root for anyone I choose now! (Bears, Packers, Browns -- use to like the Rams until they fell apart a couple years ago).....anyway - bring on pre-season I'm ready!!

        You know the plan works - just need to make it work for you. Yea for quitting smoking - I stopped 3 years ago 4th of July and feel so much better now. The first week was annoying because I wanted to smoke but after that I was home free and haven't looked back since.

        Is BF doing Atkins with you or are you the loner in the house? I'm doing this alone but not doing too bad.

        Make sure you drink 64 ounces pure water (nothing added) daily -- take your supplements and exercise starting today! Good luck to you
