  • Starting over (I don't want to loose my job)

Well, back in '06 I went from 232lb to 204lb in 30 days. I did a super clean induction period for a month. I'm in the US Coast Guard and we have new weight standards in order to keep our jobs.

I'm 6'0" and weigh 245. My new maximum weight for my height will be 202 lbs or 23% body fat on October 1st. I got my body fat checked in April and I was at 23%. I have less then 8 years to go before I can retire at age 41 and I don't want any reason for them to let me go. I would rather get down under 200 lbs then rely on my BF alone.

I've been lurking on the site for a couple months now and decided it's really time to make a change in my life. You are all so inspirational and give me the drive to make it happen. Thanks

    Kevin

    Hi Kevin,

If you are serious about committing to this lifestyle and following the good Doctor's plan, I have no doubt you can reach your goal by October. We live in a world where people want everything NOW, so the key is to be able to tell yourself that the longterm goal is more important than the NOW desire. Welcome to ADBB.

    GOAL ONE 228
    (take 2)
    GOAL TWO 213 (personal goal)
    GOAL THREE 199 ONE-DERLAND
    FINAL GOAL 165

It's not about the results. Its about the process.

The first thing you need to do in order to get started is get a copy of Dr. Atkins' New Diet Revolution~2002 edition. I agree with Jill that your goal is attainable. Good luck & welcome to ADBB.

You can do this -- get started today!

Here are links that will help get you started. Make sure you are eating induction recipes only until you are ready to move onto OWL.
Exercise is not an option – it is mandatory ….. don’t say you can’t find a way and start today! Atkins bars and shakes are NOT acceptable during induction – they are made with non-induction ingredients and cause stalling in many people. Just remember - if it’s not on the acceptable food list – it doesn’t go in your mouth!

www.fitday.com get a free membership and track your daily food intake. Track NET CARBS daily … and also use the journal, for your daily moods, etc….it’s a great tool to help you.

This is from the "Read before you start" thread in the 14 day Induction area:
Drink a minimum of 64 ounces of water each day, including:
          Filtered water
          Mineral water
          Spring water
          Tap water

After your 64 ounces daily you can have the following:
Clear broth/bouillon (not all brands; read the label)
          Club soda
Cream, heavy or light (limit to two to three Tablespoons a day; note carb content)
          Decaffeinated coffee or tea*
Diet soda made with sucralose (Splenda); be sure to count the carbs (may cause a stall in weight loss)
Essence-flavored seltzer (must say "no calories" and should not contain aspartame)
Herb tea (without barley or any fruit sugar added)
Lemon juice or lime juice (note that each contains 2.8 grams carbohydrate per ounce); limit to two to three Tablespoons

*Excessive caffeine may cause unstable blood sugar and should be avoided by those who suspect they are caffeine dependent. Everyone should try to avoid caffeine.

Grain beverages (coffee substitutes) are not allowed. Alcoholic beverages are also not permitted during Induction; those low in carbohydrates are an option, in moderation, in later phases
