  • Hi, folks

I'm Amanda, and this is day 2 of Induction. I have been LC'ing for about 3 months, though... so about 20 lbs down already. I was just starting to feel really sluggish (eating lots of cheese, nuts, low-carb bars, etc.) Figured I needed to clean up for awhile and I have already lost the bloated feeling in the past 36 hours. I'm excited to finally keep up the lifestyle this time, and hopefully make some friends around here. I'm at the stage in my life where starting a family is a priority but I won't until I have a firmly set positive healthy image of myself, and excellent eating habits. The last thing I would want to pass on to children is the fear of fat! I'm breaking the cycle. So, hello to everyone and I hope we can become friends.

Welcome to the board, Amanda! And congrats on your loss so far!

It's great that you want to pass good eating habits on to your children, in fact, that's great motivation. Good for you for breaking the cycle! Keep up the good work!

Welcome to ADBB -- enjoy your journey. Read the book so you know the way this works – if you can’t find one locally www.half.com and www.Amazon.com have them pretty inexpensively

Exercise is not an option – it is mandatory ….. don’t say you can’t find a way and start today! Atkins bars and shakes are NOT acceptable during induction – they are made with non-induction ingredients and cause stalling in many people. Just remember - if it’s not on the acceptable food list – it doesn’t go in your mouth!

          Rules of Induction:

www.fitday.com get a free membership and track your daily food intake. Track NET CARBS daily … and also use the journal, for your daily moods, etc….it’s a great tool to help you.

This is from the "Read before you start" thread in the 14 day Induction area:
Drink a minimum of 64 ounces of water each day, including:
          Filtered water
          Mineral water
          Spring water
          Tap water

After your 64 ounces daily you can have the following:
Clear broth/bouillon (not all brands; read the label)
          Club soda
Cream, heavy or light (limit to two to three Tablespoons a day; note carb content)
          Decaffeinated coffee or tea*
Diet soda made with sucralose (Splenda); be sure to count the carbs (may cause a stall in weight loss)
Essence-flavored seltzer (must say "no calories" and should not contain aspartame)
Herb tea (without barley or any fruit sugar added)
Lemon juice or lime juice (note that each contains 2.8 grams carbohydrate per ounce); limit to two to three Tablespoons

*Excessive caffeine may cause unstable blood sugar and should be avoided by those who suspect they are caffeine dependent. Everyone should try to avoid caffeine.

Grain beverages (coffee substitutes) are not allowed. Alcoholic beverages are also not permitted during Induction; those low in carbohydrates are an option, in moderation, in later phases

            Re: Hi, folks

Thanks for the intro, guys! I certainly hope I have a lot to offer here, my personal success always feels best if I can help others out along the way. I'm a nurturer by nature, and the only reason I've ever fallen off this wagon (at least 7 times in 10 years) was trying to make other people feel better. Fortunately I have an awesome excuse, what with baby-prepping my body and all... It CERTAINLY keeps our parents quiet-prospect of grandbabies and whatnot! (evil laugh) I work at Whole Foods, and have a wealth of knowledge on food and all that good stuff, moving to produce dept. soon, can't WAIT to learn (and share) so much! BABBLING... Anyway, thanks! Nice to meet you.
