    Dear God,

I pray that you be with me on this journey, I thought I was doing okay eating better than usual, with high fiber bread and lots of veggies, with an occasional splurge. Anyhow I am a blog virgin this is my first entry and I hope to blog as much as I can, I turned to Atkins because I have two weeks exactly until 4th of July and I'm going to see my family, my sister has been losing weight on weight watchers and I really just look and feel terribly. The economy, my career, my personal life and all of the drama .. my weight shouldn't be on my to do list. I have always been a compulsive eater, late night eater, emotional eater, I just love food in my darkest and brightest moments, may God be with me

Cheer up, you have just taken the first steps on your road to "freedom"! Freedom from this food addiction, soon you will be finding your hunger dissapear and forgetting to even eat sometimes, this will give your mind more time to think more self-encouraging thoughts!! You have to do this for yourself and noone else!!! Read my profile, been there- late night snacking, the obsessive food thoughts throughout the day all day everyday. It was ridiculous... if I can do this you can too. ps. I even was able to give up alchohol at the same time. I have lost a friend, lost my job, you name it, I got it, depression, anxiety the works... but not anymore. The only thing I have lost lately is weight. You hang in there and follow through, it WILL work for you too!!!

Started this diet on Sun 4/26/09

50 lbs gone on Sun 9/27/09

Well its been over a year now and I am currently on maintenance and still trying to adjust to the "new" ME. No major struggles to report, just livin' day to day.

      What worked for me...http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...y-success.html

Re: Hit the scale at 180

follow the plan the way it's written - only eat foods on the acceptable food list, exercise starting today, drink plenty of water (nothing added - 64 ounces daily minimum)....these things will help you loose the weight you want to. Just remember, your body will let go of the weight on it's schedule, not by your calendar. If you follow the plan 100% you should have no problem.

Exercise is not an option – it is mandatory ….. don’t say you can’t - find a way and start today! Most of us aren’t active before Atkins – but once you get going you’ll find it’s so easy to carve out some time each day to walk, run, swim find something and just do it!

Atkins bars and shakes are NOT acceptable during induction – they are made with non-induction ingredients and cause stalling in many people – you can use them further up the Rungs but not to begin with. Also remember - if it’s not on the acceptable food list – it doesn’t go in your mouth!

Here are links that will help get you started. Make sure you are preparing induction recipes only until you are ready to move onto OWL.

www.fitday.com get a free membership and track your daily food intake. Track NET CARBS daily … and also use the journal, for your daily moods, etc….it’s a great tool to help you.

Drink a minimum of 64 ounces of water each day, including:
            Filtered water
            Mineral water
            Spring water
            Tap water

After your 64 ounces you can have the following:
Clear broth/bouillon (not all brands; read the label)
            Club soda
Cream, heavy or light (limit to two to three Tablespoons a day; note carb content)
            Decaffeinated coffee or tea*
Diet soda made with sucralose (Splenda); be sure to count the carbs (may cause a stall in weight loss)
Essence-flavored seltzer (must say "no calories" and should not contain aspartame)
Herb tea (without barley or any fruit sugar added)
Lemon juice or lime juice (note that each contains 2.8 grams carbohydrate per ounce); limit to two to three Tablespoons

*Excessive caffeine may cause unstable blood sugar and should be avoided by those who suspect they are caffeine dependent. Everyone should try to avoid caffeine.

Grain beverages (coffee substitutes) are not allowed. Alcoholic beverages are also not permitted during Induction; those low in carbohydrates are an option, in moderation, in later phases

            Good luck on your journey.

As Carole says, follow the plan. High fiber breads are not allowed on Induction. Check Carole's links for the allowed foods.
