  • "Tennessee 20" my buns (they grew too!)

I'm new here and would like to introduce myself. I'm Raevis and I'm not new to Atkins. I've done it twice before with great success. I'm done beating myself up for gaining 20lbs since we moved to TN I've kicked myself enough and I just need to get back to it. I can't believe I waited this long (I moved to TN in a size 8 & now suck it in to wear a 12). I refuse to buy another LARGER wardrobe. That gets expensive!

The first time I did Atkins I went from about 140lbs to 123lbs and that was awesome! Then I became pregnant gained 45 - 50lbs then it was time to take it off. I did! I went back down to a size 6 and kept it there for years. Now it seems that I don't drop weight like I once did... Getting a bit older now. I feel like if I don't do it now I won't get it done.

My motivation is to be healthy for myself and my family & I want to be active and energetic like I once was. I want to put on clothes to go into public and know that they look good.

I've got a bit of a goal to hit and it's right around the corner. We have a family reunion coming up at the very end of July. My goal is to lose 28lbs but having 20lbs gone by the time we leave would be SUPERB! My husband is doing this with me (so we're both equally as cranky during the induction phase).

I'm glad to be part of this group & thanks in advance for the support I know I'll find here.

    All the best,
    Raevis

welcome back Raevis - check the STAC (Second Time Around Club) they have daily roll calls and keep each other on track every step of the way.

Good luck loosing the weight you want - if you don't make your goal by the time you want to don't beat yourself up too much --- your body will loose as it wants to, not by your calendar!! LOL

I hope you have the book and have both read it. Check the recipe sites for tasty dishes and remember to vary your food so you don't get bored with the same thing over and over.

Exercise is not an option – it is mandatory ….. don’t say you can’t - find a way and start today! Most of us aren’t active before Atkins – but once you get going you’ll find it’s so easy to carve out some time each day to walk, run, swim find something and just do it!

Atkins bars and shakes are NOT acceptable during induction – they are made with non-induction ingredients and cause stalling in many people – you can use them further up the Rungs but not to begin with. Also remember - if it’s not on the acceptable food list – it doesn’t go in your mouth!

Here are links that will help get you started. Make sure you are preparing induction recipes only until you are ready to move onto OWL.

www.fitday.com get a free membership and track your daily food intake. Track NET CARBS daily … and also use the journal, for your daily moods, etc….it’s a great tool to help you.

Drink a minimum of 64 ounces of water each day, including:
    Filtered water
    Mineral water
    Spring water
    Tap water

After your 64 ounces you can have the following:
Clear broth/bouillon (not all brands; read the label)
    Club soda
Cream, heavy or light (limit to two to three Tablespoons a day; note carb content)
    Decaffeinated coffee or tea*
Diet soda made with sucralose (Splenda); be sure to count the carbs (may cause a stall in weight loss)
Essence-flavored seltzer (must say "no calories" and should not contain aspartame)
Herb tea (without barley or any fruit sugar added)
Lemon juice or lime juice (note that each contains 2.8 grams carbohydrate per ounce); limit to two to three Tablespoons

*Excessive caffeine may cause unstable blood sugar and should be avoided by those who suspect they are caffeine dependent. Everyone should try to avoid caffeine.

Grain beverages (coffee substitutes) are not allowed. Alcoholic beverages are also not permitted during Induction; those low in carbohydrates are an option, in moderation, in later phases

    Good luck on your journey.

Hello and welcome! Since you don't have a lot to lose (relatively speaking) 20 pounds in less than a month is a lot to lose, but even if only ten come off that's ten less than you have right now. Come, post often and take advantage of the wealth of knowledge here. We are all rooting for you.

It's not about the results. Its about the process.

Re: "Tennessee 20" my buns (they grew too!)

Yeah. 20lbs is kind of a lot in one month. I would be happy/thrilled with 10. I was referring back to the 1st time I did Atkins. It just FELL off.

My boss just did the Master Cleanse. You know the one with Lemons & Maple Syrup. Yuck! One part of it that stuck out was the morning salt water cleanse. 32 oz of H20 & 2 tsp of salt. It functions as an enema from the top down instead of the bottom up. I don't know if this would be an ok thing for anyone with hypertension but for anyone that deals with a bit of constipation it will take care of it in about 45 minutes (don't leave the house!) I believe I'm going to incorporate it into my routine with Atkins. The meat & cheese tends to "affect" me.

Yesterday was Day 1. Great Day!
Thanks all of you for the support & I'm glad to have some pros to bounce ideas off of.

            Have a great day!
            Raevis

              Welcome to ADBB
              Hope things go well.
I am not sure I would do the salt thing personally. We eat a lot of veggies on Atkins for some that is enough to stay regular. Others may need to add some flax seeds or psyllium husks.
On Atkins I think it is best to eat a nice filling breakfast.
