    Hi THere,

I'm new here. Just thought I'd say hello. I just lost 17 pounds on weight watchers but I am SO SICK AND TIRED of fighting sugar cravings every single night. Two goldfish, one WW chocolate, 10 pieces of cereal, and on and on, every night, I go back and forth to the kitchen cause I still want something on weight watchers, even when all my points are finished for the day.

I'm hoping this diet helps curb my cravings and helps me get the last 12 pounds off.

I don't know how much posting I'll be doing, but I am doing a lot of reading so I thought it only proper to introduce myself and let you know I am here.

Thanks for the plethora of information, recipes, tips, and personal stories.

I'm on my 2nd day of induction. So far, I'm doing great but missing the splenda in my coffee! I'm a HUGE coffee drinker, so that is my biggest problem with any diet, because I love sugar and cream. If it wasn't for the coffee, I'd probably be 10 pounds lighter!

    ANyway, hello!

    Best,
    Mrs.Apriceno

hi and welcome. You are allowed 3 spenda packets daily and three ounces of unsweetened heavy cream daily so make a pot of decaf and enjoy! I start every morning with a cup of decaf with splenda and cream - then start drinking water after that. Right after dinner I have another cup of coffee w/splenda and cream. It is my "treat" for the day.

We follow the 2002 edition of Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution (DANDR) - reading the book will give you all the information you need plus will explain the science and reasoning behind each step of the plan. It is a must read if you plan to follow the plan 100%. If you can't find a copy locally www.half.com and www.Amazon.com have them pretty inexpensively – mine was under $5.00 with shipping.

Exercise is not an option – it is mandatory ….. don’t say you can’t - find a way and start today! Most of us aren’t active before Atkins – but once you get going you’ll find it’s so easy to carve out some time each day to walk, run, swim find something and just do it!

Atkins bars and shakes are NOT acceptable during induction – they are made with non-induction ingredients and cause stalling in many people – you can use them further up the Rungs but not to begin with. Also remember - if it’s not on the acceptable food list – it doesn’t go in your mouth!

Here is a thread that will give you loads of information to be able to follow the plan correctly. http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...-approach.html

www.fitday.com get a free membership and track your daily food intake. Track NET CARBS daily … and also use the journal, for your daily moods, etc….it’s a great tool to help you.

Drink a minimum of 64 ounces of water each day, including:
    Filtered water
    Mineral water
    Spring water
    Tap water

After your 64 ounces you can have the following:
Clear broth/bouillon (not all brands; read the label)
    Club soda
Cream, heavy or light (limit to two to three Tablespoons a day; note carb content)
    Decaffeinated coffee or tea*
Diet soda made with sucralose (Splenda); be sure to count the carbs (may cause a stall in weight loss)
Essence-flavored seltzer (must say "no calories" and should not contain aspartame)
Herb tea (without barley or any fruit sugar added)
Lemon juice or lime juice (note that each contains 2.8 grams carbohydrate per ounce); limit to two to three Tablespoons

*Excessive caffeine may cause unstable blood sugar and should be avoided by those who suspect they are caffeine dependent. Everyone should try to avoid caffeine.

Grain beverages (coffee substitutes) are not allowed. Alcoholic beverages are also not permitted during Induction; those low in carbohydrates are an option, in moderation, in later phases

    Good luck on your journey.
    Carole

I think Weight Watchers is wonderful--for some people. But it wasn't for me. I was sick of thinking about food all day long and still being hungry after eating my allowed points. I think you will be pleasantly surprised by how you feel in this Way Of Eating as soon as you get past the first few days of carb withdrawl. I love eating low carb, and although I do sometimes stray, it is without a doubt the best way for me to eat long term. Hopefully you will find that this is the plan for you too.

It's not about the results. Its about the process.

I did weight watchers for a while too, i lost weight but my life revolved around point values, all i did was plan my meals for the day and would end up eating so much broccoli and cauliflower (since they were low in points) that my chiropractor noticed, lol, he took an x-ray and i had so much built up gas that showed up in the xray that he asked if i had digestion problems, tmi, I know but good luck here, welcome and I know from experience this is WAY easier than WW.
