    hi all,

    just wanted to say hi!

    just started the diet. i haven't even read the book yet but from what i have read on the internet i am on the right track - going to buy the book tomorrow and make sure i'm getting it right!

    Good for you for reading the book first, Adam. It will save you goof ups and slow downs. If you have any questions, feel free to post. ALso note that sometimes even if you follow the book you may hit rough spots. The vast experiences of the members here can help guide you through the things the book does not cover.

      Welcome to the board, Adam!

      The nicest thing about Atkins is that you won't be 'always hungry' anymore. The fat and protein fills you up and evens out your blood sugar levels so that the constant hunger goes away. It's the most satisfying diet there is!

      Good luck to you and keep us posted on your progress!

        quick update on progress:

        june 15 start weight: 238lbs
        july 8 current weight: 218lbs - amazing!

        this diet really does work! i couldn't be happier - 2 people in the last week have commented on the fact that i have lost weight. it's such a breath of fresh air compared to people telling me i have put weight on! it's not a one way street after all!

        i am a bit cincerned that i am eating too much cheese though, i seem to have substituted all my cravings for cheese!

          It works. I know. I was so amazed when I started too.
          Cheese - yes - it can be a problem. Work it out.

              can i eat ham? i keep seeing it included in suggested atkins menus, but i thought that ham would have been cured using sugar???

                  There are hams out there that are sugar free. Just have to read labels.
