  • hello

I have done Atkin's in the past and it is great at getting off about 10 to 20 lbs fast and then I fall off the wagon. I thought maybe the board would help keep me motivated.

I am not a big sweets eater, my down fall seems to be pizza, or chips. I started back on Atkin's yesterday, so this is day two for me. I have a modest goal of 145. My lowest weight as an adult (after 2 kids) was 127 which seemed a little too thin, and my highest weight was 192. Currently I am at 187. I am 5'6 and bottom heavy (or as I like to say, I have voluptuous hips.)

I am 44, My kids are grown, I have 5 grandchildren, I live alone and lead a very active social life. I have a weird work schedule, which sometimes leads to late night eating....

    That's about it for now,
    Wish me luck,
    Robin

Lots of luck Robin. You can do it. You are lucky that you do not like sweets. Now pizza you can have in a modified way on Atkins and it is very yummy.
Cauliflower pizza - now I know it sounds weird but it rocks.

      Re: hello

Here is another great pizza recipe -- I have 2 slices of this in my freezer ... I added veggies to my pizza, T.J. just had meat on his.

I thought I posted this before but I can't find it......

a substitute for chips is Deli Deluxe brand cheese. Take the cheese slice and cut it into 4 equal pieces (or more if you want smaller chips) -- place pieces on parchment paper and microwave a minute or more (depending on your microwave) until the cheese becomes brown. The chips taste like Cheese Nips!!

        Re: hello

Thanks, I'll try the cheese chips out this afternoon! Both pizza recipes look great, I tried a soy flour crust once, but was not thrilled. The cauliflower crust looks like a focaccia bread in the pictures...looks tasty on it's own.

          Robin -

We both started the same day, I also have been on Atkins before. I have never got to as low a weight as you. There is so much the same in our situations as I am busy and find it hard to fit in exercise, but I am going to try. I have a full time job, three part jobs, and two teenagers. I don't crave sweets but it is the pizza or pasta that get me. But I know that when I get to a certain point in Atkins I can slowly introduce back in some carb control pasta on rare occasions. But it is also gotten to be my favorite to have my spagetti/meat sauce (no sugar spagetti sauce, mushrooms and hamburger) over garlic cauliflower. YUMMY.

Good luck to you and happy losing.

          We can do this!!!

            Re: hello

Robin, the key to success with an odd work schedule is PLANNING! I know you probably come in the door from the work shift ravenously hungry so it is important that you have something made ahead of time that will actually be appealing when you arrive home. (Lots of times the fridge can be full of legal foods but there is nothing there I want to eat). Having a spicy snack like buffalo wings or a cheesy something in the fridge can hit that snack spot that can't be filled by other things.)

            GOAL TWO 213 (personal goal)
            GOAL THREE 199 ONE-DERLAND
            FINAL GOAL 165

It's not about the results. Its about the process.

              Re: hello

The snack suggestions are great, and I really will start perusing the recipes soon. I do well on the exersize when I am working the night shift...it's when I have to be at work at 6:15 am..and get off at 2 or 3 in the afternoon that I have a problem getting to the gym. It seems like a good idea in the morning but by the afternoon all I can think about is crashing on the bed. but luckily in a two week span I only work about 3 day shifts so I give my self a pass. Weighed at the grocery and was 185...but Sunday is the official weigh in day.
