  • Another Newbe! I'm non!!

Hi! I am so happy to finally get to post here! I have been on Atkins or a low carb program off and on for most of my adult life- I do very well and then let emotional eating take control- I am in my mid-50's and started on Atkins in 2004 on eDiets- I was quite successful and happy, but never got to my "goal"- that is my BIG desire this time- and I plan for it to be the LAST time-

I went from a high of 223 (that I knew of...) down to 167, and could wear size 8 jeans very comfortably- stayed in the mid 170's for the past 3 years- but I quit smoking on March 10th of this yearand the weight just went nuts! I found myself at 203.5 last Sunday and CRIED. I am in control and on my 4th day of Induction-doing well- I have read Dr. Atkins book (s) so many times, there are parts I know by heart! I do have a blog on Multiply that my pals from eDiets stay in touch on, and that really helps!

Happy to be here and I hope I can contribute! I absolutely LOVE the before and after pics- I hope to post mine one day soon!

    All the best, non

hi and welcome back non -- check the STAC group for extra support. Hopefully you'll be able to make life long changes in your eating. I stopped smoking 3 years ago on July 4th -- after putting on a few pounds to begin with they're gone and I don't miss the cigarettes either (that's after 35 years and 3 packs a day).

Drink 64 ounces of pure water daily (nothing added) -- and start exercising today!Check out these links for help. Good luck this time.
Here is a thread that will give you loads of information to be able to follow the plan correctly. http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...-approach.html (BEFORE you begin the Atkins Nutritional Approach...)

Hi non, think of the gain from the cigarettes as a temporary blip. You can and will get back to your thin self. And this time you will be healthier without the smokes.

Thank you so much for the welcome- I work second shift so I will be on late most of the time-or late mornings-

4 days down and doing fine! I had to go grocery shopping tonight after work- a good time to go as you can take the time to LOOK and read labels- what an education!

              Re: Another Newbe! I'm non!!

That made me snicker! LOL!! Thanks!!

I am living proof that KNOWING the program and APPLYING it are 2 entirely different things! As we all know, when you fall off the wagon, the fall can be quick but painful or last for years and be VERY painful.

I am SO glad to be here- I think at this point I can do this to goal and stay there. If I can quit the cigs after 30 years, I can stop the sugar carbs! It is an addiction to me just like a drug. And there ARE other things to eat...this forum is living proof that it works.

I am walking a mile every day- and need to get my Richard Simmons tapes playing in the morning again! I love him....he makes me want to dance and sing and we need that!
