  • hello!

    Hi everyone!

Just a quick introduction (although I'm generally more of a lurker than a poster) to say hello!

I restarted Atkins in March of this year and although my weight is creeping down by inches I feel absolutely wonderful. This is not my first attempt at Atkins although I've never figured out why I quit the last few times because it works so well! I suspect my slow weight loss is in part due to my past (failed) attempts at Atkins but I'm trying to break up with my scale and focus instead on how much more energy I have and how much stronger I am (I've started weight training and I adore it). Despite the slow rate of loss I've not been out of ketosis since the third day of Atkins and I'm trying to have faith that my body will know what it's doing (this part is even harder than trying to end my obsessive relationship with my scale! ).

My goal is to lose 150lbs (I've already lost 15, yay!) but I'm equally focused on my health and how comfortable I feel in my skin. My weight has gone steadily up since puberty and I'm committed to reversing that trend, by gum!

    Be well,
    Califia

    Re: hello!

15 pounds down - way to go. Sounds like you are doing wonderful.

Also when you weight-train you will build some muscles. So though you are losing fat, you are making muscles. And they are firmer (prettier) and denser so the scale will not tell you the real truth but the mirror will.

Welcome to ADBB. We have a strength training going, hope you will join us next month. We need a UK member.

      Re: hello!

hi and welcome Calfia -- there are 2 groups you can join, STAC (second time around club) and Centure Club -- they are wonderful groups where you will get extra support if you want it.

You are smart not worrying about what the scale says....your body will tell you all you need to know and the fact that you are lifting weights you will tone up more quickly and feel much better!

Make sure you are eating the proper foods (acceptable food list items only), drinking at least 64 ounces of pure water (nothing added) daily and taking supplements. Good luck to you!!

Have you checked the recipe sites? You'll find great tasting meal ideas!!

        Re: hello!

Welcome Califia. Don't be afraid to exercise including strength training. That has changed my body as much as the weight loss itself and it raises your metabolism too. Glad to have you aboard.
