  • 2nd Time Around

I am on the go all the time. I work full time, in school 4 days a week, just a month shy of completing my degree, author, not to mention I have a family to take care of as well. I am so busy being caught up in caring for my family and the needs of others that I forget to take care of me at times. I have done Atkins before and was very successful in losing 20 pounds in 6 weeks. I am here because I need just a little more motivation to do it again. My goal is to lose at least 15 pounds total within the next month or so. I will be turning 40 in less than a month and marrying for the second time in September. I need that extra push to get me there.....I want to be fit and fabulous at 40!!! Not to mention look great walking down the aisle in my wedding gown.....

hi and welcome -- glad you found us. Since you've done Atkins before you should go to the STAC area (Second Time Around Club) - they give each other extra support to keep on track.

Check the stickies (information posts) at the top of this page http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/atkins-diet-14-day-induction/

Make sure you drink at least 64 ounces of water daily (nothing added - just water) - exercise starting today and take a good supplement daily. Don't cheat yourself or the plan - it was written specifically to help us loose weight, there are no shortcuts to get to your goal, it will take time and work - good luck!! We follow the 2002 edition of Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution (DANDR) - get a copy to give yourself the edge to win your weight loss fight.

Check the recipe sites also - they are very helpful and will help make your meals so much more enjoyable.

        Re: 2nd Time Around

Hi Workit. I basically went through my 30s doing what you have been doing--taking care of everyone but me. Good for you for deciding you are important too! I can honestly say taking care of me has allowed me to take better care of everyone else in the long run. I am healthier, happier and have a lot more energy. My son was also overweight and when I stopped nagging and lead by example he eventually jumped on the band wagon and lost about 40 pounds, too. Your forties is a wonderful decade. You decide you are important and you take more time to celebrate and enjoy. I think maybe we finally get comfortable with who we are rather than trying to make yourself into something you are not. Sooo, happy 40th and congrats on your upcoming wedding!
