  • Day 1 down

    Hi everyone,

My name is Cary. I'm 25 and was always at a healthy weight...until I had my third son. Now here I am, ready to give up all those carbs that just love my waistline. For the past week I have been weaning myself off carbs, but today was the first day I officially started the Atkins Induction. I made it through day one! It wasn't as bad as I thought, and I'm really proud of myself.

I am so glad I stumbled upon this board! I was looking at the before/during/after pictures and was really inspired! I can't wait to get healthy and post my pics and maybe inspire someone.

    Re: Day 1 down

Good for you, taking it one day at the time has brought me 10 weeks on the way, and I have lost 14kg (almost 31 P) during this time. It's the first time in my life that i have lost so much so quick and still feeling great.

          Re: Day 1 down

Hi Cary, and welcome to ADBB. You sound like you are doing great so far and I expect that you will probably lose fairly easily if you have always been trim. Don't be afraid to move up the rungs after induction. It teaches you which foods trigger cravings ad portion control issues. This information is invaluable if you want to maintain your losses.(Shannon's signature above gives a brief summary of the rungs). Glad you are enjoying Atkins so far.

          GOAL TWO 213 (personal goal)

It's not about the results. Its about the process.

            Re: Day 1 down

Hi Cary and welcome -- stay away from the shakes and bars (they are NOT legal on induction) - eat a variety of foods, get your fats, carbs and protein in daily, drink plenty of pure water (nothing added), take your supplements and exercise...it's really that easy. Read the 2002 DANDR book so you know what you’re doing.
Check the stickies (information posts) at the top of this page http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/atkins-diet-14-day-induction/

Drink a minimum of 64 ounces of water each day, including:
            Filtered water
            Mineral water
            Spring water
            Tap water

Crystal Lite, sugar free teas, sodas, latte’s, smoothies – don’t count – PURE water is the only thing that counts toward your daily water intake. Now is the time to make changes – stop using these products. If you need a “flavor” in your water float a lemon or lime slice on top of your water

Check the recipe sites also - they are very helpful and will help make your meals so much more enjoyable.
