Today is day 2 of induction. I successfully used the Atkins program five years ago and lost 32 pounds!! I was so proud of myself and had committed to following the program from then on. However, after 2 more children (I already had 3), the pounds began to creep back on. After several stressful years for various reasons, I stepped on the scales a couple of days ago and realized not only had I gained back the 32 pounds, but an additional 3. To add insult to injury, my DH made several remarks that evening about me being back up to my "fighting weight". I was crushed. I began the plan again yesterday morning, made a stop by the pharmacy to pick up some much needed vitamins, and woke up this morning to find that 2 pounds are already gone. I am so glad to find this forum as I feel like I have no support. It feels good already to just be able to vent my feelings. My goal is to drop at least 20 pounds by my birthday (90 days away). Then, I would like to shed the last 15 by the end of November.

Re: New member - Second time Atkins follower
Hi Mimoon. Glad you found us. Many folks think that if they lose the weight that's enough but the successful folks realize that the only way to keep it off is to be vigilant with your carbs. It is a permanent lifestyle change if it is going to work. Doesn't mean you will never eat the other stuff again, but it does mean they will be infrequent treats, not the backbone of your diet. I am betting that you will do just fine. Feel free to ask questions and post often. It helps keep you honest.

Welcome, it is great to have you here. I think your goals are very realistic, especially if you follow the plan exactly right. I also receive lukewarm support from DH, but as the weight comes off, they tend to come around. Post often and read the book - over and over again.
149.8/no weigh/ 119

1st goal: 139 (earlier weight)
what the rungs mean to me:
rung 1 - more veggies
rung 2 - dairy (some milk in coffee)
rung 3 - seeds, nuts (mostly sprinkled on salads)
rung 4 - berries, melon
rung 5 - wine -
rung 6 - beans, hummus
rung 7 - other fruits
rung 8 - carrots/ potatoes (nah, prolly not)
rung 9 - whole grains (fresh Dutch breads...)
Major Goal - 128 lbs/ healthy range
(on to pre-maintenance)

welcome back -- stay away from processed foods (like shakes and bars) - eat a variety of foods, get your fats, carbs and protein in daily, drink plenty of pure water (nothing added), take your supplements and exercise...it's really that easy. Check the STAC for additional support Second Time Around Club - Atkins Diet.
