  • Hey Ya'll

I'm new here, I've been trolling the site the past couple days and took the weekend to consider if Atkin's is for me. I think I'm going to give it a go because I'm ready to commit. I'm doing my grocery shopping today so I'll be starting Atkin's tomorrow as we have nothing in the house even remotely healthy. Anywho, looking forward to getting to know you all. Wish me luck!

      Re: Hey Ya'll

Hi and welcome -- stay away from the shakes and bars (they are NOT legal on induction) - eat a variety of foods, get your fats, carbs and protein in daily, drink plenty of pure water (nothing added), take your supplements and exercise...it's really that easy. Read the 2002 DANDR book so you know what you’re doing.
Check the stickies (information posts) at the top of this page http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/atkins-diet-14-day-induction/

Drink a minimum of 64 ounces of water each day, including:
      Filtered water
      Mineral water
      Spring water
      Tap water

Crystal Lite, sugar free teas, sodas, latte’s, smoothies – don’t count – PURE water is the only thing that counts toward your daily water intake. Now is the time to make changes – stop using these products. If you need a “flavor” in your water float a lemon or lime slice on top of your water

Check the recipe sites also - they are very helpful and will help make your meals so much more enjoyable.

So did you find all kinds of cool thing shopping. Keep it simple (whole foods) and check out some recipes on Linda's site (the first link in Carole's recipe list) and on this forum and it should go just fine.

Hi Size 9 and welcome. Just hang tough these first few days and really do the Induction cleanly. Days 2 and 3 are usually the worst, then it all gets better. Stay off the scale til the end if you can--you tend to bob up and down a bit during induction. Don't be afraid to ask questions either.

            Re: Hey Ya'll

So tomorrow looks like eggs for breakfast, I already boiled them this evening. They're quick and easy for the mornings. Lunch is a salad of Romaine lettuce, boiled egg, cheddar cheese and my own made dressing of EVOO, lemon juice and paprika. Dinner is chicken and cauliflower. Does this menu look alright so far? One question I do have, what type of bacon should I buy if I wanted bacon bits? How do I know which ones have sugar etc? Also for asparagus and other veggies, is it alright to buy canned? What about bagged salad? Thank you all for your advice and encouragement!!

Good idea to boil the eggs if you are in a hurry.

Menu is looking good. Just make sure there is some fat added at your supper.

With bacon you have to read the ingredient list to see what is in it. I don't know about brands in the US ask in the main board and see what people thinks.
Canned would be OK (but read the label to see if they added stuff). Fresh is better for the nutritional value. Bagged salads are great. Watch our for carrots (that is not an induction allowed veggie)

              It is looking good.

I buy one called Plumrose that is low sugar and low sodium and still tastes good! I live in the Northeast so I don't know if it is just a regional brand.
