  • I'm new to your Board ~

I've been reading for a few days and I love your forums. Lots of info and support here! I followed the Atkins plan in 2000 - lost 20 lbs. - gained a healthier me and I felt wonderful. Fast forward 3 moves, a career change and life in general and I'm back where I started. I know it works. I know I feel wonderful when I follow this way of life. I'm on board again.

    See you around.

Hi and welcome back -- stay away from the shakes and bars (they are NOT legal on induction) - eat a variety of foods, get your fats, carbs and protein in daily, drink plenty of pure water (nothing added), take your supplements and exercise...it's really that easy. Check the STAC for additional support Second Time Around Club - Atkins Diet.

Check the stickies (information posts) at the top of this page http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/atkins-diet-14-day-induction/

Check the recipe sites also - they are very helpful and will help make your meals so much more enjoyable.

Welcome. Glad you like it here.
If you did it in 2000 you may not be familiar with the new rules that came out in 2002 and that we adhere to here. Do you have DANDR (Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution from 2002?)

Wish you all kinds of luck.

So are you just starting induction again now? How is to be back?

            Liv,

I'm actually on day 7 and it's GREAT to be back. I feel better (had a few days of feeling crappy) and I know it's the right way for my body. I know that some people flame this WOE and don't agree but it's mostly because they haven't actually read or studied it at all. I have a supportive family and that's all that matters, right?

Yes there are plenty of misconceptions out there for sure. Good your family is with you. Mine is a bit miffed that our visits to the chinese restaurants are less frequent but they have been good.

Re: I'm new to your Board ~

Right. I think the worst part for me is the sugar - which is EXACTLY why I need to get a grip. I've always had a sugar addiction. The darned stuff just does a number on my body though. I'm also dealing with thyroid issues that I didn't have 10 years ago (Dx 3 years ago) and believe it or not I'm going through a weird time where we're adjusting/tweaking my meds so it's probably not the best time to experience weight loss but I am committed to FEELING good - the weight loss will come. I've seen a 4 lb loss in the past week and that's more than I expected. Plus, I just had a bunless cheeseburger and a huge salad with full fat bleu cheese dressing for lunch. Now I ask you....what's not to love about this?

The older we get the tougher it gets Ren....but you have a great attitude and the weight loss can be accomplished! When you get frustrated just post -- there are wonderful people here who enjoy helping the rest of us keep straight!!

I agree with the food -- who wouldn't WANT to eat this way???? Good luck - if you need anything let me know!

Welcome Ren, I love that feeling good is your primary goal and not just the scale. Having said that I wonder why we sometimes stray for months when we know that we DO feel better when we are on plan. Maybe the sugar causes a wee bit of amnesia?

Great question Jill. I have NO idea why I do that. Sugar is like a drug I think! I think I have a handle on it for the moment. Guess it took feeling really bad to wake me up. No more~
