Hi Guys and Girls,
Hi to you all and thanks for this board, already learning.
I made a decision to loose weight about 3 months ago after reaching 121Kg (5'10", 50yo) and finding jeans were getting harder to wear due to my ever expanding gut, looked like I was pregnant.
I never ate that much but loved to drink, mainly bourbon/vodka. Made the stuff at home so there was no limit cost wise.
Began my journey by doing some exercise (30 min walk 5 days a week) and eating "healthy", you know low fat stuff and crackers, people at the office congratulated me on my wise choice but still drank like a fish.
1 month later the result was nothing, so increased the exercise to include 30 min of stair climbing type exercise 3 times a week, 1 month later, nothing.
Damm, cut way down on the booze and lost 5Kg in the last few weeks.
During one of my harder workouts I questioned why I had to work so hard to burn off the calories I had just eaten, would make more sense to not eat them in the first place...had to be a better way.
Remembered the hype about Atkins from years ago, got myself the book, started reading and I am now in the 2nd day of the induction.
Stopped alcohol, made vegetable soup and a nice salad, had steak, bacon and eggs with cheese, plenty of water and now looking forward to the future.
Between the book and this forum I'm off to a good start.
Regards,
Rob
