  • New here..Hi everyone!

Hi all! New here! I started Atkins on the first of the month. I have cheated a couple of times. Once, day before yesterday and this morning I had an Atkins shake, which I realize is illegal, too! I'm starting with a clean slate tomorrow. I weighed in on the last day of June @ 234 pounds. I don't plan on weighing again until the first of August. Once a month is all I can take of the scales. They have always been my enemy and made me fall into self defeat, so I'm using them scarcely!

Good luck to you all here, especially the newbies! We can succeed!

    Welcome to the board, Liz!

Staying away from the scale is hard to do but it's also the smart thing to do! Too many people live or die (figuratively) by that number and it's derailed many a diet. Stick to the plan and you will get some very good news in a month!

Let us know how you're doing and if you're having an problems. Good luck!

Hi Blueberrylady, How well I know..lol In the past, when I've gained, I thought, "What the heck? I'll eat what I want..what's the point!" ...and when I've lost I've thought, "Time to celebrate! (usually with a sweet treat!..lol)

So, I got rid of the scales and don't have any at home. I'm going to weigh at my parents house once a month...

      Thanks for the support!

P.S. I'll definitely let y'all know how it's going! Thanks again!

Hi and welcome to ADBB. I’m one of the Spotlight Hostesses. Here is a little information I hope will help get you started. We follow the 2002 DANDR book it would be very beneficial to buy a copy so you know what you’re doing.
*Eat a variety of meats, cheeses and vegetables. Also make sure you get your fats, carbs and protein in daily.
*Drink plenty of pure water (nothing added ***– see below for more info).
*Take your supplements and exercise – that’s the plan.
*Stay away from the shakes and bars (they aren’t legal on induction) and any processed or chemically enhanced foods – we eat whole foods. (You already know this!!!)

Check the stickies (information posts) at the top of this page – it’s a condenced version of the DANDR book. http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/atkins-diet-14-day-induction/

Make sure you drink a minimum of 64 ounces of water each day, including:
        Filtered water
        Mineral water
        Spring water
        Tap water

*** Crystal Lite, sugar free teas, sugar free kool-aid & diet sodas do not count they are chemically enhanced and most include aspartame (also not allowed on Atkins) – PURE water is the only thing that counts toward your daily water intake. If you need a “flavor” in your water float a lemon or lime slice on top of your water

The recipe sites are a helpful way to make your meals more enjoyable – just make sure you use Induction Recipes to begin with.

Hi Liz, wise to avoid the scale and concentrate on just doing it. Welcome to ADBB.

                  Re: New here..Hi everyone!

Julie, Thanks so much! I think I'm gonna love it here! It's nice to be amongst people with the same goals. I have others I chat with who are trying to lose with different programs, so I'm very grateful this site is here! Others keep telling me how bad this program is, but I've heard too many success stories that tell me otherwise! Now, I want to find out for myself!
