    Re: Fuddle here.

Fuddle, booze is what screwed my metabolism up for the last few years. Academia, booze and many long hours of sheer boredom.

Booze played an incredible part in my bloating and unprecedented weight gain. I even began to develop male gyne.

I thank the my lucky stars that I have been athletic for many years prior before entering grad school. Like the obsessive, compulsive idiot I am, I chose two minors. The competition and stress was indescribable. Man, if I scored an A- or B+ I felt like committing Hari-kari with a butter knife.

I've always been that way, hence my brutal work out regime. I remember when I had a scholarship playing Jazz guitar at the University of Miami many eons ago, there were days I'd practice 7-8 hours with a freakin' metronome running scales and arpeggios until I was blue (well, be-boped to get technical) in the face.

Carole, it is no big deal. I've been messing with weights since I was 14 years old or so. I just believe that we really should owe it to ourselves, in retrospect, to spend a half hour just moving about.

Anyway, I'm not all that big anymore. Well, probably the person on the street would think I'm pretty big. I've only returned to weight training in the latter part of April / the beginning of May or so. I just have a solid foundation I can build on. I has been relatively easy for me to increase work out load or intensity because of experience. If I were a novice to any form of physical activity, I would be content to walk for 30 minutes or so 4 times per week and do a couple of crunches and kneeling push ups. I'd be happy lifting up a pair of peach cans in the air.

You posted earlier that nobody is better than somebody else. I truly agree with you. I post my stuff because I feel proud of myself just like everybody else should be if they are giving their best to achieve what ever goal is important to them. Everybody here is a winner because they are making inroads in their own ways. We all learn from each other and that is a wonderful thing.

Great work... it's now day number two! Oh, flavour is never a problem. It's bland things like rice and potatoes and cereals and pasta that I really don't have so much attachment to. Well… not conscious attachment. Ι mean, I never sit and say "Damn, I've GOT to have some potatoes!" or "Oh no! We're out of pasta!". In fact, for me, potatoes are little more than a medium for supporting the butter and sour cream. And pasta... well, I confess to adoring pasta carbonara, but that's mostly the butter and cream and bacon and parmesan, isn't it?

I have discovered (over the years, remember I did Atkins back in 2002 but fell off the wagon so to speak) that if I eat a tuna sandwich the wheat makes me sleepy. No such sleepiness arises if the tuna is on a lettuce leaf or even just in a bowl with the mayo and black pepper.

I guess I'm lucky. I don't find bacon and philadelphia to be boring. I don't crave pre-packaged stuff. If a box has "ingredients" on it I rarely buy it.

Norman, took me a while to find "gynecomastia". Homer Simpson just calls 'em "man breasts". But yeah, seen 'em coming....

Starting Day Two with a big cup of tea, splenda, cream.

Mug of tea/splenda/cream this morning. 4 slices of bacon for brunch. Another mug of tea. Two glasses of water. Lunch, some feta and not too much yoghurt. Dinner, leftover beef curry from last night. Now: more water.

Another kilo down! Slow and steady. I need to do better with the water. I think I'm getting about 5 glasses in.

Had two G&Ts on Wednesday though. Tasty, but I didn't need them.

I think I'll stay on induction another week or two.

Hi Fuddle. You don't have to do gym exercise. A good stretch of the legs over those lovely green hills is a good workout too.

Well, well. A trip away to England … OK, so I fell off the wagon, pretty much.

It's OK though. Today I'm starting Induction again.
