  • Been There?

I am living the vida low-carb now. I have always been big, but in college I worked at a gym and managed to lose 100 pounds. As soon as I graduated and started working as a teacher (hint: bdays = cupcakes) I gained it all back. I wasn't on a low carb diet when I lost the weight before. I was eating Special K all the time. I would try that again, but I am loving the control I have over my cravings and appetite right now. Anyone have a similar experience???

hi and welcome -- Special K is out (but you know that).....here are some links and information to help you get started.

Check the stickies (information posts) at the top of this page – it’s a condensed version of the DANDR book. http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/atkins-diet-14-day-induction/

Since you say your muscles are sore make sure you are getting enough water (PURE WATER nothing added but ice) to your day -- I bike 10 to 25 miles a day and drink water all day long to keep my muscles from getting so sore and tight.

Make sure you drink a minimum of 64 ounces of water each day, including:
    Filtered water
    Mineral water
    Spring water
    Tap water

The recipe sites are a helpful way to make your meals more enjoyable – just make sure you use Induction Recipes to begin with.

    good luck to you.

      Re: Been There?

I started Atkins very cautiously. After all, I'd tried and failed at dozens of different diets. When I told people I was starting Atkins, they would nod politely knowing I was going to fail again. But the key for me was the control over cravings and elimination of the spikes in the blood sugar causing me to overeat.

      Yes ... I've been there ... and I'm glad I'm where I am now.

Hi Choca, teaching and those cupcakes is a bad combo. Especially when that sugar low hits you at the same time the kids are getting a sugar high! LOL Glad you found us. That extra energy you get low carbing will come in handy in the classroom.
