    Hi everyone,
This isn't my first time with Atkins - I did it when I was 21 and was down to 128 - a weight I maintained until I was about 25. Then I moved to CA and in with my boyfriend, stopped eating low-carb, stopped exercising and now, 5 yrs later, my weight is up to an all time high of 175. I've been *sort of* trying to diet for the last few years, always on and off, but this time it's drastic and I'm ready to go the distance. Three things that are different for me this time:
    1. Exercise - I no longer think that I can just diet the weight off. I just signed up for an unlimited pass at my yoga studio and am going to go everyday (I do a strenuous form so it has always been effective exercise for me). Also I am not working this summer so I have all day every day to exercise. No excuses!
    2. Vitamins. I never took them before and was always troubled by fatigue and lethargy while on Atkins. This time I got a multi-vit like the basic #3 DANDR talks about and also chromium and co-q10.
    3. I've passed an emotional milestone by letting my weight get this high. It's the fattest I've ever been - and it's affecting my life really negatively. I'm almost obese by medical standards. I guess something has just snapped for me and no excuse or justification makes any difference to me right now. I am willing to do whatever it takes to lose 40 pounds.
    Good luck all!

Hi phaedra and welcome. Not sure which version of DANDR you used before but FYI this site goes by the 2002 edition. With commitment I am sure you will reach your goal. I agree with you on the need to exercise. Sometimes it takes that wake up moment to truly commit. Best wishes on your start for your new life.

Welcome. You have thought out your plan. My only other suggestions are to plan your menus in some way that is easy for you to follow so you don't become derailed and stay away from processed foods and bars, shakes, etc. Best wishes to you!

        Thanks guys,
Yes, I use the DANDR 2002 version, and this time I read the whole book, not just the inspirational stories and the list of induction foods!
Great idea to plan out menus. I also started fitday and it's great!
halfway through day one and feeling strong...

hi and welcome phaedra. I agree with planning meals ahead - I made a few things up and had them ready in case I didn't feel like cooking. If you need to cut some of the recipes in half or freeze them it's all good -- the more you have in your freezer the more evenings you won't have to be cooking!!! LOL

Good luck to you -- you know the plan works, check the STAC (Second Time Around Club) they have daily roll calls and help each other keep on track. Second Time Around Club - Atkins Diet - also check the exercise challenges - it's a great way to keep yourself accountable on a daily basis.
