  • Hiya! Glad i found you!

    Hi everyone!

I'm so glad i found this place!
and that there are others out there!

Ive been on the diet for a few weeks now.
and im starting to see a difference and so is my partner.
Although i'am not full blown (as in 20Carbs a day)
i do allow for sugar in coffee and ketchup/sauce on food.

I don't however eat bread/pasta/potatoes all the heavy carb foods.

I'm doing well so far i have lost 4.5 kilos, My body is very good at loosing weight when i try, but my brain is very bad with sticking to things so its been a battle previously!

    Anyway!,

I'am 24 years old and live in Western Australia with my Partner Gareth, and my 5.5 year old daughter Kianna.

I really hope i can make some great friends here and can keep motivated!

    Welcome to ADBB, Kimberly!

So what diet have you been on? I guess you mean Atkins, but sugar is a "no, no". The point of Induction is to switch your body from glucosis to lipolysis, and I seriously doubt this will happen if you add sugar in your coffee and eat things like ketchup (has sugar in it). Why not use some Splenda or another 'legal' sweetener for your coffee? Or Stevia, which is a natural sweetener. You could also make your own ketchup or prepare some other Induction-legal sauce. Otherwise your diet might be low carb, but it's not Atkins.

Congrats for the 4.5 kg. You can give your brain a little help. Ketosis will suppress your appetite and avoiding sugar added to foods will keep away those cravings for sugar. It is much easier to stick to a low carb diet when your brain is not asking for a sugar refill.

      Hi Kimberley,
It is nice to have company on this journey. It is one of the things that I like about it. Don't think I would do well without it. So I have loved and I do love this board.

So what is stopping you from "full blown" Full blown works very well. You should be able to get some sugar substitutes if you absolutely need sweet thing in your coffee
Work on it and keep it going.

        Welcome Kimberly!

The diet will be so much easier if you can get rid of all the sugar additives. The best thing about Atkins is that it takes away your cravings if you let it. You can do this, it just takes a little determination. Don't let sugar control your life! Good luck to both of you!

Check the stickies (information posts) at the top of the induction page - http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/atkins-diet-14-day-induction/ – it’s a condensed version of the 2002 DANDR book which is the edition we follow. It’s a good idea to get your own copy of the book for reference.

How much water are you drinking daily? Make sure you drink a minimum of 64 ounces of pure water each day, including:
          Filtered water
          Mineral water
          Spring water
          Tap water

I hope you do Atkins the correct way -- there is no half way -- read the stickie area on the link above and start correctly.

The recipe sites are a helpful meal planning tool – just make sure you use Induction Recipes to begin with. Remember – if a food isn’t listed on the acceptable food list it doesn’t belong in your mouth – no exceptions!
