  • Back again after baby #3 -re-introducing myself

Hi all! I'm an old forum member.... been here since 2004, but had to leave this WOE for a while due to some medical issues and then a 3rd pregnancy. But I'm back and today is my first day back. I had my daughter 8 weeks ago and am currently BF. I can't due induction due to the nursing but I am determined to lose this baby weight again. Atkins helped me lose the weight after babies #1 and #2.

A little about me.... I'm a work-at-home mom to 3. I own and operate a fairly successful web hosting business from my home. I've been married to my wonderful non-judgemental supportive healthy-weighted husband for 7 1/2 years. He has stuck by me even while watching my weight fluctuate from 145 pounds on our wedding day to 246 pounds when I delivered our first child. He's never called me fat or told me I need to lose weight, and has supported me 100% through whatever I chose to do saying he loves my body just the same no matter what the scale says. I couldn't have made it through without his support. Love the man!!

    ------------------------------------
    Baby #1
    Born 9/12/2003
    Pre-preg: 170
    Delivery day: 246
Lost it all in 9 months thanks to this WOE

    Baby #2
    Born 3/25/2005
    Pre-preg: 170
    Delivery day: 231
Lost it all in 12 months, by the time she was two years old I was down to 157 (gained some back after)

    Baby #3
    Born 5/18/2009
    Pre-preg: 175
    Delivery day: 237
    Current weight: 216
Hoping to lose it within 9 months!

I'm so thankful for this board as it has helped me stay focused on my previous low carb weight loss journeys. Thanks for letting me re-introduce myself! Hope to be more active here as I feel like I could write a book on this WOE by now!

Re: Back again after baby #3 -re-introducing myself

Hi and welcome back -- Here is a little information I hope will refresh your memory and help get you going again. Stay away from the shakes and bars (they are NOT legal on induction) - eat a variety of foods, get your fats, carbs and protein in daily, drink a minimum of 64 ounces of pure water (nothing added), take supplements and exercise.

It sounds like you have a wonderful husband....mine is the same way, wonderfully non-judgemental!

Check the STAC Second Time Around Club - Atkins Diet for additional support. We also have challenges for members to join, some are exercise related and some aren’t. Also start a journal and post your thoughts along the way.

Check the stickies (information posts) at the top of the induction page - http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/atkins-diet-14-day-induction/ – it’s an easy way to answer questions you may have if you can’t find your copy of the book.

Check the recipe sites also - they are very helpful and will help make your meals so much more enjoyable. Make sure you are using induction recipes until you move on to OWL (ongoing weight loss)

Congats on your baby.I also lost 100lbs in a year after having baby number 3 a year ago.You have lost it before and know what to do I can tell your a determined one and will do very well.Your husband sounds just like mine even when I was 283 when i had my 3rd caesarian he never put me down never called me fat.I guess us women who have husbands like that are lucky.Today as i weigh 175lbs a year on he really comments on how good I look and never reminds me that I was ever Fat!

Re: Back again after baby #3 -re-introducing myself

Thank you all for the nice comments and congratulations! The first week is going well. As of Thursday I had lost 5.5 pounds already... can't beat that. Haven't weighed myself since them but I will Monday on my 1 week mark. My first time doing Atkins I lost 10 pounds in my first week and 10 more pounds in my second week. Hoping for an equally productive first two weeks!

sham - that is a quite impressive weight loss after your third baby! Your husband sounds wonderful!

Don't expect the same results as before - your body is different and your lifestyle is also different than before. If you do loose close to that amount good for you, but I'm just saying don't get upset if you don't. It's best to stay off the scales until the end of induction (I know it's hard) - that's what is suggested by the book. Good luck to you.
