    Hello Everyone..

    My Name is Melly or Melinda. I have been coming to the boards now for over 2 weeks and I have gotten much much information and motivation. I am on the Extended Induction phase of the Diet. So far in 2 weeks and 3 days I have lost 20 pounds. Of course I want to lose all the weight, like last week. I havent been very successful at diets, I always end up starving myself and gaining more weight in the process. This time however I promised myself and my Son that I would follow the diet to the letter and I will give it more than 1 or 2 weeks. Thank you and wishing much success.

    You are doing wonderfully from the sounds of it. You should never be hungry while following Atkins. Eat the proper foods, drink a minimum of 64 ounces of pure water daily and do some type of exercise.

    Congratulations on your success this far -- much luck for the future!

      Carole, Thank You very much for your kind words. I do need to drink that water.. but its like poison to me.. but I will somehow..

        Once you drink for a couple days your body will start to crave it. The day before I started Atkins I hadn't had a glass of water (just water) for I can't even remember how long. The day I started I made myself drink 64 ounces of water....warm from the tap - it was disgusting. The next day I decided to drink ice water and haven't looked back. I drink 150 ounces daily - nothing added just water. If I drink anything less my body feels it. Here are the "legal" waters Filtered water: Mineral water, spring water and tap water. I have 1 cup of decaf coffee in the morning with splenda then start drinking water -- I have another cup of coffee after dinner then finish my water for the day.

          I will definitely have to challenge myself to that water challenge, thats a biggie for me...feels like what I put in never comes out so I say forget it.. but thank you I will definitely go there....

            Just take sips all day Melly and you might be surprised how much you get down. Also try it cold and at room temp--some folks find it easier at one temp over another.

              Hi Melly! I was the same way you are with water, but I'm getting used to it now. I'm on Day 23 - still in induction as well. We're even at similar weights with a similar starting weight.

              Best of luck! Atkins rocks.

                Thank You Chinadoll and Eama.. You have to excuse me I do no know how to use these boards very well.. however your both right about the water..I have been stalled on my weight loss now for almost 5 days and at my size I dont think I should be at a plateau yet...so I better get to drinking that water...but it seems that the more I drink the more bloated I get.. so I dont know.. always something.....

                  Melly - Great results already!

                  I drink water through a straw and at a bit over room temperature. Its easy to drink if its sitting in front of you and you grab and drink out of the straw.

                  Everyone has a trick to getting it in, find out what will work for you!

                    Thank You Tracey....I did drink 4 glasses of water this morning...so that's a goal for me already!!! I havent lost any weight in the past few days and unfortunately for me the motivation is when the scale moves down...So I am hoping the water will help me there...Its really nice to know that people care, I thank you all and wish ALL the best of luck!!!!

                      Don't get discouraged, your body needs to catch up with that weight loss also. Congrats on that one cup, before you know it you'll be telling us its no big deal!

                        20 pounds is a great start!! Keep it up! I started on Monday and I promised myself not to weight in until the two weeks, but I can report that my pants are looooooser

                          Did you take your measurements to begin with? You'll find there are days even weeks where the scale doesn't move but the measuring tape does.....

                          As far as feeling bloated that will happen for a few days until your body gets use to the water - water helps keep your metabolism up and also helps to flush the nasties out of your system....it is a crucial part of the plan. Good for you getting your water in today!!

                            Hi Melly! It sounds like you're doing GREAT and then once you add water ( I am new and need to do that too lol oops) it's going to get even better then
                            Used to be 120 and under... Then evened out to 140... Now headed back down from 195

                              Hello there Mr. Self and thank you and good luck to you.. unfortunately I am scale addicted.. I wish I could get away from the scale.. but I cant....I am jealous!!! Cause nothing is looser yet...Carole I need to get on the ball with that with the tape measuring..your right..I wished I would have done it over 2 weeks ago.. and I hope so about the bloating...thank you again, you have wonderful advice...Heya Stakk much good luck to you..I know the water is a hard thing for me.. but I did drink 8 glasses today... LOL..I wish you so much success
