  • Hello - My Story

    Well,

Here I am on a forum looking for some form of support.

I have been married for four years and I found myself weighing almost 90lbs heavier than when I first met my wife.

I really feel like I don't know how my weight got away from me. Its like one morning I woke up and I was overweight. It's really hard feeling like I am not attractive any more. I just wish I could go hit the beach or a swimming pool with self confidence in my body. I really would like to take up a few of my old sports and most of all be healthy again!

I started the diet about a week ago, I will be doing an extended induction. My body wants to loose the weight, I just have not been able to stay on a diet for more than a month and I have done the whole yo-yo two times before (with a 30, then 20lb weight loss).

My hope for this time is to get some help and encouragement from everyone and not stop till I am back to my normal self.

I am glad to be here and hope to be able to provide support for others as well.

    Hello
You have come to the right place for support, there is a ton of advice on this board and many knowledgable members who are more than willing to help out if you get stuck. I find logging onto the board daily really helps keep me motivated, also you should check out the exercise challenges they can help kick start a good exercise routine. If you stick to the plan, drink plenty of water and add a bit of exercise, you will soon start to see results!
    Good Luck x

Hi Todd -- welcome -- I hope your wife will help you on your journey -- even if she doesn't eat the same as you it's easy to make the same meat and then each of you have something different after that. It's what we do in our home....my husband and mother don't even eat the same as each other everynight, so we have the same meat and 3 different plates of food at times!

If you feel extended induction isn't giving you enough success many of us move on to OWL (ongoing weight loss) adding (for the first Rung) 5 additional veggie net carbs daily -- so many of us have started loosing again. Don't be afraid to move on from induction -- you're going to have more success in the long run by finding out what triggers and what doesn't trigger your appetite.

Here is a little info I hope will help you:

*Eat a variety of meats, cheeses and vegetables. Also make sure you get your fats, carbs and protein in daily – www.fitday.com will help you keep track of this.
*Drink 64 ounces of pure water -nothing added daily (Legal water is considered Filtered water, Mineral water, Spring water and Tap water).
*Take your supplements and start an exercise routine today.

The Atkins shakes and bars are not legal on induction – there are non-induction ingredients in them and they are not listed on the acceptable food list. If a food isn’t listed on the acceptable food list it doesn’t belong in your mouth – no exceptions!

The recipe sites are a helpful meal planning tool – just make sure you use Induction Recipes to begin with.

Hi Tod, funny how those first few years of married bliss can pack on the pounds. Sounds like you are motivated and ready. Being a young guy you will probably have a pretty quick loss pattern compared to most of us.(count me jealous) Do exercise and definitely do move up through the rungs of the diet as you go. It teaches you how to succeed later. Most of the folks who end up regaining are the ones who stayed in Induction and never learned how to add food back in properly.
