  • Hi there fellow Pork Scratching Munchers!

    Hi there,

    My name is Chelle and Im a 35 year old SAH Mum to 3 kids under 8. I suffer with Depression, Anxiety, Migraine and IBS and have found that home made food is the best treatment for my conditions, unfortunatly home made tends to mean high carb, high comfort lol! So after getting married last May at 8st 10lb, here I am 14 months later at 11st 9lb!
    Over the past months I have tried, low fat, low carb, low calorie, low self esteem lol! But to no avail! I am now going back to the diet that helped me lose 3 stone 6 years ago after the birth of my son. This time, now I am the wrong side of 35 I hope to continue to LM!
    I am currently on day 2 of induction (though it will prob be day 4 by the time i finish typing this).
    I am SOOO glad to have found this site and look forward to getting to know you all especially any UK users xx

    Hi and welcome to ADBB Chelle.

    We recommend you get a copy of the 2002 Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution (DANDR) the book we use for reference on this site. Until you can get a copy of the book check the stickies (information posts) at the top of the induction page - http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/atkins-diet-14-day-induction/77558-atkins-diet-induction-faqs.html – it’s a condensed version of everything you’ll need to know. Even through the stickies are a good start they don’t detail the entire program, so that’s why we suggest you have the book to follow.

    Post often, ask questions join some of the challenges - the more you use the forum the more you'll get out of it.

    *take your measurements and get on the scale so you have accurate numbers to start with - don't weigh again until the end of your 2 week induction.
    *Eat a variety of meats, cheeses and vegetables. Also make sure you get your fats, carbs and protein in daily – www.fitday.com will help you keep track of this.
    *Drink 64 ounces of pure water -nothing added daily (Legal water is considered Filtered water, Mineral water, Spring water and Tap water).
    *Take your supplements and start an exercise routine today.

    The Atkins shakes and bars are not legal on induction – there are non-induction ingredients in them and they are not listed on the acceptable food list. If a food isn’t listed on the acceptable food list it doesn’t belong in your mouth – no exceptions!

    The recipe sites are a helpful meal planning tool – just make sure you use Induction Recipes to begin with.

      My daughter always complains that I eat lard cooked in lard. But I tell her I love it. It makes me happy. I hope your pork scratchings will make you happy too.

        Morning ALL!!!

        Ive just had my decaf coffee with cream mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!
        Thanks for the supporting comments, Ive got 'the book' already, saved from my previous diet. Well thumbed but the same content, and Im hoping some of the magic it had 6 years ago will give me luck this time lol

        Im sat here in my dressing gown (robe?), about to embark on Day 3, and Ive no idea what to eat today - had home made burgers last night - Mr Chellybobs had fries and 2 burger buns - oh and a few beers! I had 2 burgers salad with radish and peppers and lettuce and a few imaginary gin and tonics - they tasted lovely i keep telling myself
        I did enjoy the sugar free jelly (jello?) with cream after though mmmmm!

        Right Im off for now going to wee (pee?) on a stick!!!!

                  Hiya Chelle,
                  Im down in London, which is looking quite nice right now. (suns out and it is dry!) I wish i liked pork Scratchings, it would be so handy just to grab a pack when im on the go! I tried them a few times, but i just cant get into them.

                    I'm down in Milton Keynes, cultural capital of the South... *cough*
                    Have you checked out some of the recipe and menu boards here? They are really good for inspiration.
                    As you are making a lot of homemade goods (a girl/lass after my own heart!), I can personally recommend:
                    Omelette with mushrooms, cherry tomatoes, ham and cheese
                    Scrambled egg and smoke salmon
                    homemade chilli (minus beans and rice, natch), with some creme fraiche/sour cream and sprinkling of cheese (Mr. Bobs can even have nachos with his!)
                    Mushroom soup - cook a whole bunch of shrooms with loads of pepper, a bit of salt, butter, a little chicken stick, some garlic, and then blitz with blender wand-thing and add cream at the last minute - very filling and MUCH better than Heinz, even if I do say so myself...!)
                    Ditto, ham & pea soup - can be made in advance and reheated, I think
                    Lamb kofte kebabs - made with minced lamb, some cloves, chilli, garlic, onion and some chopped rosemary, can make meatballs or skewer these with roughly chopped peppers, onions, mushrooms etc
                    Steak (cos everyone thinks when you're on atkins you exist on steak, so why not just have one!)
                    Thai green/red curry - with chicken, cod, beef - YUM!
                    Chicken stuffed with various: garlic, spinach, bacon, cream cheese etc
                    Baked trout, just with some slices of lemon/lime, or herb butter inside, wrapped in foil and baked
                    Ahhh, no turkey twizzlers here!

                    Well done on your efforts so far - I think your humour and great attitude will take you far
