    Morning everyone

I have been registered awhile and have been sort of lurking around on these forums while waiting for my book to arrive - Trust me to buy from the slowest seller in Amazon history!

To keep myself informed and find out more while waiting for the book I have trawled this site and to be honest it helped keep me in the right frame of mind.

So...my book arrived Friday just gone - I have read it from cover to cover and re-read the induction chapter at least twice! (I am an avid reader and love to learn)

I decided to start this WOL today (Thursday) with the idea that any withdrawals I am going to have will not impact on my working week too much! (I drink coffee like it's going out of fashion and have never drank decaf in my life before this morning)

So off I went shopping last night what an experience....I live in the UK and my local supermarket is Asda I armed myself with my list of allowed foods and a trolly.....let me tell you it was . I was in Asda for 1 and half hours and I think it's safe to say 30 mins of that was spent looking at the back of bacon packets! I looked at the back of EVERY bacon pack in the isle and could not find one brand without Nitrates! Needless to say I came away without bacon....just a tip don't get me started on Veggies as they did not have half of them on my list!

So...here I am a little confused but all in all feeling good - I have done my weight and measurements - planned out my meals for the next two days (thanks to the many recipes threads I have found on here) - have a 2L bottle of water on my desk which is going down quiet easy - taken my Vits and oils and am looking forward to walking with my two dogs later tonight!

So I am hoping you people will not mind me hanging around here abit I promise to behave

    Re: Morning all!

    Wow.
You read the book and studies. That is great. Most of us jump in and then we do not quite know what we are doing or supposed to do. You sure started with a leap there.

Someone just started a UK social group to discuss shopping in Britain and stuff. Maybe there will be something there to learn and share there
    Here is the link

I have learned so much about chemicals and ingredients since starting Atkins. It has really opened my eyes to what the food industry is about.

    Happy first day!!!!

      Hi Liv

Thanks for the encouragement. I was a little hyper this morning when wrote my first post, but lack of caffeine has kicked in during the day I am a little more subdued.

I will check out the group as shopping was horrible for me last night! I have never read the labels on anything before and It was odd not picking up pasta and couscous.

The book and the posts on here are really interesting. Having come from a family who supposedly eat healthly (as in always grilled everything rather than fried) it has been a real learning curve.

      Thanks again

        Hello,

I just wanted to welcome you to the ADBB and the atkins way of life. If you stick to the plan, you will not only be a few pounds lighter in a couple of weeks, but you will also feel amazing!
There are quite a few Uk followers on the board, so you wont be short of good advice for shopping over here. As for bacon, i get tesco's organic, i could'nt find one without nitrates either, maybe a butchers might be able to provide some?
You seem well prepared, so im sure you will have great success!

        good luck!

It is so refreshing to see someone who HAS the book and has actually READ the book before starting. Thank you so much for educating yourself before you start - if will be so much easier for you since you know how to do the program. Post often, ask questions join some of the challenges - the more you use the forum the more you'll get out of it.

            Before you start:
*take your measurements and get on the scale so you have accurate numbers to start with - don't weigh again until the end of your 2 week induction.
*Eat a variety of meats, cheeses and vegetables. Also make sure you get your fats, carbs and protein in daily – www.fitday.com will help you keep track of this.
*Drink 64 ounces of pure water -nothing added daily (Legal water is considered Filtered water, Mineral water, Spring water and Tap water).
*Take your supplements and start an exercise routine today.

The recipe sites are a helpful meal planning tool – just make sure you use Induction Recipes to begin with.

                Re: Morning all!

                Good morning everyone

Starting day 2 and feeling fine. Although I did not feel too fine last night I must admitt. I had a headache so it was off to bed early for me.

cafe_et_creme - I am so glad I am not the only one who could not find bacon! I finish work at 3pm today so will pop to the butchers and see what they say.

imagood1 - Firstly I love the tough love I have seen from you on the board! Secondly I do not believe you can do anything the way it's supposed to be done unless you know the in's and out's of it - thank you for the tips - I will re-read them.

BFGarner - I am very serious! I want to feel good again

Lovebug3168 - that pic is so cute!

Thank you all for the welcome messages
